Cosmetics Design Asia: Innovations will help validate industry claims
UC expert discusses new technology
As the cosmetics industry makes claims about the effectiveness of their products, actually validating those claims is becoming more important.
Randall Wickett, PhD, professor emeritus of pharmaceutics and cosmetic science in the University of Cincinnati's James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy, told Cosmetics Design Asia that now more than ever, companies will have their claims scrutinzed. This can lead to claims being challenged by competitors or consumers bringing a lawsuit if a product does not live up to its claims.
Wickett said there are new technologies like multiphoton tomography, fluorescence lifetime imaging and more that are helping companies validate their claims.
