UC Army ROTC Honors 30 At Ceremony

The UC Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps will honor nearly 30 cadets in a special full military dress ceremony at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, in Braunstein Room 300. Lieutenant Colonel Philip R. Tilly, UC Professor of Military Science, says UC Cadet Perry Wolfe, who is also a UC cheerleader, will sing the national anthem during the colors ceremony. Wolfe will be one of the cadets honored for scoring a perfect 300 points on the Army physical fitness test in Ft. Lewis last summer. Tilly adds Wolfe was also one of only about 100 cadets nationally to earn the Recondo Badge out of a pool of 4,800 participants.

Also recognized will be Jessica Bohache for her performance at the Eastern Region (ROTC) 7th Brigade’s Ranger Challenge in Ft. Knox. The annual event, which was held Oct. 23-24, draws competitors from 18 schools. Tilly says Bohache scored 298 out of 300 points on her physical fitness test and completed a 10 kilometer march with a weapon and full rucksack.

Other awards will honor:

  • 18 cadets for their leadership at a Leaders Development Assessment Course at Ft. Lewis
  • Five cadets earned their Airborne wings at Ft. Benning, after parachuting out of airplanes
  • Two cadets who participated in a summer U.S. Special Forces retreat at Ft. Bragg
  • Three cadets who led soldiers on active duty over the summer in Germany, Texas and North Carolina
