Best Practices in Teaching Diversity to be Applauded Nov. 30

One hundred and sixteen UC faculty members and administrators will be honored for their efforts to promote diversity inside and outside the classroom in a recognition ceremony sponsored by President Nancy L. Zimpher and the Just Community initiative on Nov. 30.  Each of the honorees was nominated by students.

The university community is invited to attend, “The Future of Learning: Addressing Issues of Diversity,” from 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, in Tangeman University Center’s Great Hall. The program will begin with a brief ceremony to recognize the honorees and will be followed by a reception with refreshments and appetizers. The hosts include President Zimpher, Mitchel Livingston, vice president for Student Affairs and Services, Richard D. Karp, professor and project coordinator for The Future of Learning.

Honorees attending the ceremony are asked to RSVP by November 19, 2004, to Kathy Ogden at 556-4119. A list of those who will be recognized can be found at http://www.uc.edu/news/NR.asp?id=2166.

Karp says the Future of Learning program will also result in a collection of essays featuring best practices from several of the honorees.
