Do You Have A Talent? Volunteer To Make A Difference!
The following message is from UCs GEAR UP program, housed in the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services. GEAR UP, short for Gaining Early Awareness And Readiness For Undergraduate Programs, provides support, services and activities to help urban schoolchildren get on the pathway to college. The UC branch of the partnership is presently recruiting volunteers to share their talents in entertaining Saturday programs for sixth, seventh and eighth-graders.
Volunteers Needed!!
We are looking for volunteers to participate in the HOPE Worldwide Saturday Academy. Volunteers are needed to teach their hobby and the Character Counts curriculum to 6th/7th/8th graders, who are being served by the GEAR UP Success Partnership. The Saturday Academy will conclude with a recital on May 21.
Dates: Every Saturday from April 2-May 21.
Time: 9-11:30 a.m.
However, volunteers only need to contribute an hour each Saturday, either from 9-10 a.m. or from 10:15-11:15 a.m.
Location: Rockdale Academy
There will be two trainings offered, and volunteers must attend one of them.
Saturday, March 26 from 9-11 a.m., at UC
Friday, April 1 from 6:30-8:30 p.m., at UC
Refreshments will be provided.
