President Issues UCl21 Report Card
President Nancy L. Zimpher presented the first-ever President's Report Card to the UC Board of Trustees on June 28, saying it "illustrates our collective progress on our UC|21 goals."
The report card lists UC|21 strategies under the university's six strategic goals and assesses their status with one of three symbols:
- a C-Paw for complete
- an "up" arrow denoting progress
- and a "sideways" arrow signifying emerging areas.
The assessment report is intended to become annual and provide accountability in a widely accessible way. It includes data from UC's participation in the National Survey of Student Engagement (2002), One Stop Student services, National Merit Scholars, sponsored research and much, much more.
The president noted that most universities, if they have a report card, issue somewhat superficial ones. She held up an unnamed example printed from another university Web site that was two printed pages. UC's, on the other hand, is about 141 pages if printed out in its entirety. The UC report card is not intended to be used as a printed document and is available on the UC|21 Web site. It includes a musical introduction that features the fanfare composed by College-Conservatory of Music Dean Douglas Lowry for the president's installation and unveiling of UC|21 on May 21, 2004.
President Zimpher indicated that by fall UC|21 will be further refined by "faithfully" organizing the UC|21 strategies under prioritized objectives.
