UC Community Answers Katrina's Call
When our country is struck by what is perhaps our greatest natural disaster ever, a university noted for its bonds with the community gladly bears a special responsibility to help.
Such is the case in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, and the University of Cincinnati family is working to provide assistance and offer aid often in ways that only UC could contribute.
Clearly this tragedy will require enormous resources to provide relief and comfort to those in need, and we as a university community are called upon to help in any way we can, said UC President Nancy Zimpher.
Beyond the hope that all UC alums might answer the call to help as theyre personally able, the list of Bearcat hands reaching out is impressive and growing longer.
In addition, similar to recent efforts to provide relief following the devastating tsunami of late 2004, UC is working with its regional partners in higher education to coordinate a response to Katrina. UCs partners in this work include Xavier University, Northern Kentucky University, Thomas More College, Cincinnati State, the College of Mount St. Joseph and Gateway Community College.
