'Rent-A-Rower' Benefits Men's Team

Now is the opportunity to prepare your home for winter while helping the UC Men's Rowing team pay for travel and equipment. The Cincinnati Men’s Rowing team holds its annual “Rent-A-Rower” fund-raiser from Oct. 22 to Nov. 20.

"In past years, we have had requests for a variety of jobs," said Jason Lamping, "such as painting, building fences, and cleaning out basements and garages. We also take care of those dirty windows and autumn leaves."

For particularly big jobs, Lamping suggests requesting more than one rower to tackle the work. "We have rowers from many fields at UC who would be glad to do your more specialized work," Lamping said. "Just ask."

The team is made up of approximately 75 student-athletes. The men's rowing program is almost entirely self-supporting, and fund-raisers like "Rent-A-Rower" ensure the program's success from year to year, Lamping said.

Rowers are available beginning at 9:00 a.m. on:

  • Saturday, Oct. 22
  • Sunday, Oct. 23
  • Saturday, Nov. 19
  • Sunday, Nov. 20

Each rower requested is $60 for 4 hours or $110 for 8 hours. Jobs will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

To request a rower, please contact Head Coach Brent Figg at 513-675-6567 or email at figgbn@email.uc.edu.
