UC Clermont Fine Arts Fund Sampler Events Focus on  Children

UC Clermont College will host several family-friendly activities and performances Saturday, February 11 as one of many host sites for the 20th Annual Fine Arts Fund Sampler Weekend sponsored by Macy’s.

The festivities begin when the Frisch Marionettes present the classic children’s story “Hansel & Gretel” in Krueger Auditorium at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. “Make-it Take-it” cookie decorating and balloon animals by Bunny’s Balloons will immediately follow the 10 a.m. show in the hallway outside the auditorium and is open to children of all ages.

For children with a softer touch, UC Clermont art professor Kelly Frigard will spin wool into yarn for participants to create take-home lambs in an art workshop for all ages. Basket weaving workshops will be offered at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. for ages 10 and up, and at 2 p.m., the Clermont Philharmonic Orchestra will perform a variety of short pieces in the Krueger Auditorium.

Beginning at 1 p.m., UC Clermont professor Peggy Hager will present a clogging workshop for ages 8 and up in the student lounge. Although Hager has been clogging with Harkie’s Hoedowners in Batavia since 1993, this is her first year taking part in the Fine Arts Fund Sampler.

“I really appreciate the opportunity to share my love of clog dancing with young people,” Hager said. “There is a great interest in it in Clermont County.”

As a host site for the Fine Arts Fund Sampler, Batavia’s UC Clermont becomes part of Cincinnati’s largest free arts festival. The Fine Arts Fund is dedicated to strengthening the arts for a greater Cincinnati through united fundraising, support services and the responsible investment and allocation of resources.
