UC Clermont Volleyball team receives bid to national tournament

The UC Clermont Women’s Volleyball team, currently ranked 5th in the nation in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) standings, received an invitation to participate the USCAA National Championship Tournament.  The Ft. Wayne, Ind., tournament runs October 25 28.

“We set the national championship tournament as a goal at the beginning of the season,” said Clermont Head Coach Joe Harpring.  “I’m extremely proud of these players.  They worked hard both during the season and in the off-season to earn this invitation.  It is a great honor for the program and will be a memorable experience for these young women,” Harpring said.

The top eight teams in the USCAA standings will travel to Indiana to compete for the title.  Participating teams include Florida College the 2005 National Champion.  UC Clermont will face both Division I (scholarship) and Division II (non-scholarship) schools.  This trip will mark the first time the volleyball program has participated in a national championship event.
