Associate Professor Blasco Jose Sobrinho Passes Away

Associate professor of sociology Blasco Jose Sobrinho passed away July 30, 2007.

"Professor Sobrinho has been a highly popular and highly successful teacher of Introductory Sociology, and his loss is a tragic one for his family, colleagues, students, and our department as a whole," said David Lundgren, acting sociology department head.

Born in Ilba de Mozambique, Mozambique, Africa, Professor Sobrinho earned a PhD in philosophy of science at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India, and a PhD in sociology at the University of Pittsburgh.
