Dayton Wood Sculptor Featured in UC Clermont Gallery
Sculptured Expressions by Dayton wood sculptor Bob Bush will be featured in the UC Clermont College Art Gallery through October 13.
Please join the artist for his reception on Saturday, September 27 from 9-11 a.m. for coffee and donuts.
As demonstrated in several of his sculptures, Bush isn't afraid to challenge gravity. His favorite shaped log is a fork in a tree which allows him to extend the limit of matter and design. This master of work includes several recent pieces: Mask of Sarai, Seated Lady, Peace Gesture, Grandpa, A Boy With Nature, First Born and The Finish Line.
Bush calls himself a keen observer of people. He marvels at how God created such a beautiful work of art, the human body, he said. He studies facial expressions, body language, mannerisms, gestures and interactions with other people.

Bush discovered his passion for wood sculpting as a Fine Arts student at Ohio University. One of his instructors, David Hostettler, was a major influence in introducing Bob to the art of creating sculptures from a log of wood. His continuing art education included sculpting classes at the Dayton Art Institute.
As a young artist, Bush's first commissioned piece was a 16 foot tall, 10 foot wing span totem pole for the Camp Fire Girls in Dayton, celebrating their 50th anniversary.
The art gallery is sponsored by Park National Bank and located in the Snyder Building on the UC Clermont College campus in Batavia at 4200 Clermont College Drive. Hours are Monday - Thursday 7:30 a.m. 7 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m. 5 p.m. and Saturday 8:30 a.m. 12:30 p.m. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.
