Thomaston Woods Establishes UC Clermont College Scholarship

Thomaston Woods, an affordable housing community in Amelia, has established three $1,000 scholarships for residents attending UC Clermont College for the 2009-2010 academic year.

“We’re delighted to partner with an organization that enriches the lives of their residents. Helping people obtain an education is a true investment that keeps on giving,” said Dean James F. McDonough of UC Clermont College.

Unlike many affordable housing communities, Thomaston Woods provides more than just a place to call home.  Residents can engage in parenting classes, enrichment groups, activities for children, homework assistance and teen talk.  In addition, the Thomaston Woods Community Center hosts a Head Start Pre-school on-site.

“We are thrilled to have this opportunity available for our residents and hope that it will encourage them to pursue their college education,” said Tina Lytle, Director of Resident Services for Thomaston Woods.

The one hundred housing unit community was established in 1990 by St. Thomas Housing Corporation, a non-profit subsidiary of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Terrace Park.
