WVXU: Scientists Discuss Cleaning, Energy Potential of Super Bacteria

research associate Robert Voorhees and professor of molecular genetics Daniel Hassett recently discussed their latest biochemical engineering project on WVXU Cincinnati public radio.

The two University of Cincinnati scientists recently told radio host Ann Thompson on the “Focus on Technology” program how they are creating powerful bacteria that have the ability to clean wastewater and generate energy, which can be stored for later use. When harnessed, the energy created by these microscopic, mutated organisms could potentially power electronics or machinery.
