Hoxworth Volunteers Inducted into the Fenwal Donation Hall of Fame

Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati, is proud to announce that volunteers Jim Morgan and April Meyers will be inducted into the Donation Hall of Fame, sponsored by Fenwal, Inc. The Donation Hall of Fame recognizes individuals nationwide who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to blood donation.

Hoxworth will team up with Fenwal to induct Morgan and Meyers into the Donation Hall of Fame at a ceremony to held, today, Nov. 19 at Hoxworth Blood Center, located at 3130 Highland Ave. in Cincinnati. Morgan and Meyers were honored for their many contributions to people in need of blood transfusions. 

“It's a fitting tribute to two of our most dedicated volunteers” said Hoxworth Director Ronald Sacher, M.D. “They have selflessly given the gift of life to patients in need and are a hero to our community.”

Jim Morgan, a being a long time dedicated blood donor and retired truck driver began his volunteer service as a driver for Hoxworth Blood Center 11 years ago. Each week he drives more than 450 miles to deliver blood and blood products to the hospitals served by the blood center. Morgan also serves as a shuttle service for an Indiana Amish Community so that they can give the gift of life through blood donation. 

April Meyers actively promotes blood donation through social media, volunteers weekly to bake cookies in the Donor Café at the Hoxworth Blue Ash and donates blood on a regular basis. Meyers is proud to be a lifesaver and shares that having Down Syndrome does not limit her from making a difference in the life of others.

Morgan and Meyers are two of 12 inspiring donation stories across the country selected for the Fenwal 2014 Donation Hall of Fame.  

Blood centers across the country submitted nominations for this year’s Donation Hall of Fame. Winners were chosen based on their demonstrated commitment and passion to donating blood and/or encouraging blood donation. Each winner will receive a personalized award from Fenwal and will be featured in the company’s 2015 product-dating calendar they provide to U.S. blood centers.
