Transfer Ambassadors

UC’s Transfer Ambassadors are representatives of the University of Cincinnati, Clifton Campus. Serving as the "face" of the University of Cincinnati through the lens of a transfer student, Transfer Ambassadors are responsible for fostering a positive and welcoming environment at the university for all students and guests - in particular, those in transition. Additionally they will serve as their college's liaison and be involved in the university's transfer initiatives.

New for the 2021-2022 year, the program is now a scholarship award. One student will be selected from each college, and represent their college. Students selected for this scholarship can be awarded up to $1,500 for the school year (divided over enrolled semesters).

See details and link to our application form below. Application deadline is Friday, April 16.

Minimum Requirements

Why I chose to be a Transfer Ambassador: I had a difficult time transferring to UC during the COVID-19 pandemic. While the pandemic is continuing to affect our college lives this semester, I think my experiences with transferring and what I have learned from them can be very useful to new transfer students. I have reflected on my time transferring and have thought about how I handled situations and what I should have done differently. I would love to help and mentor new transfer students to give them advice that I wish I knew when I first transferred.

Favorite motto: Visualize your best self and show up as them.

Fun fact about me: I played volleyball for my freshman year of college at Eastern Kentucky University.

One piece of advice for transfer students: Many people probably feel as stressed and as uncomfortable as you do starting in a new place, so just put yourself out there and do not be afraid to talk to new people!

Why I chose to be a Transfer Ambassador: Transferring schools can be extremely challenging and sometimes intimidating. However, I truly believe that the upsides of taking on this challenge are extremely rewarding. I am here to help you make this process smooth and enjoyable. As an international transfer student, I had an incredible experience and was able to adapt very well. Now, I feel ready to share my experiences and knowledge with passionate students joining Lindner and UC. Nobody should feel alone and is why I am here to say: you can count on me!

Why I chose to be a Transfer Ambassador: I chose to be a transfer ambassador because when I transferred I was definitely worried about navigating the new websites, making friends, finding my way around campus, etc. I would love to make other transfers feel welcome and let them know that other people had the same worries that they do when it comes to attending a new school. Having a friend to reach out that has experience with what you are doing can be a huge help.

Why I chose to be a Transfer Ambassador: I’m an out of state student, and it was difficult to find my place at a new school and state. After meeting new friends and going out to explore Cincinnati, I found my own community at UC. I also want transition and transfer students to find their own place here. As a Transfer Ambassador, I want to help students get all the information they can, smoothly transition into UC’s student community and have mentors to easily reach out to.

Favorite quote/slogan/motto: The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.

One piece of advice for transfer students: Don’t be afraid to reach out for anything! Trying is better than not doing anything at all.

Why I chose to be a Transfer Ambassador: I chose to be a Transfer Ambassador because I have a passion for connecting with others. There is something so special and so wonderful about the community and I would absolutely love to be able to help unite a really cool group of people at University of Cincinnati. A group of people that are all going through a very overwhelming process and face the societal standard of “transferring and changing your mind makes you less sure of yourself.” Normalize transferring! Change is a exciting.

Favorite quote/slogan/motto: Trust the process, and have faith in the journey.

Fun fact about me: I am on the road to becoming a certified personal trainer here in the next couple months. Fitness is a big passion of mine.

Why I chose to be a Transfer Ambassador: Having a community to support you is such an underrated key to success. When challenges come along in an educational journey, no one should ever have to feel like they're alone. Whether you need a guide or a friend, I'd love to leverage what I've learned from my own successes and hurdles to help you along the way and remind you that you've got this!

Why I chose to be a Transfer Ambassador: I want to reassure fellow transfer students that there is no shame in being a nontraditional student. I've transferred from a 2 year college and my experience theater has been essential to focusing on the classes needed for my major and not having to deal with any gen eds. I've dealt with not being sure where to go or what to do for the future and that's ok! It's going to be a bumpy ride trying to figure yourself out and you're not alone. If I can be a good student and apply myself to anything, then so can you!

Favorite quote/slogan/motto: "Stand tall and face the heavens." -Xenogears

Fun fact about me: I love writing. I'm working on my own stories as well as watching all kinds of movies, tv shows, anime and video games.

One piece of advice for transfer students: Make sure the school you transfer from is accredited. Schools will always mention somewhere if they're accredited or not.

Why I chose to be a Transfer Ambassador: I applied to UC last January and got accepted last March, right before the Covid pandemic broke out. Transferring during a time of uncertainly made it difficult to get the crucial information I needed to transition to UC.  I was not aware of all the resources available to me for that process.  I became a Transfer Ambassador to help transfer students become aware of what resources are available to help them through their transition to UC.

Favorite quote/slogan/motto: "When you know better, you do better."

Fun fact about me: I love listening to NPR!

One piece of advice for transfer students: As a transfer student, it can be difficult to know when you will graduate.  My advice would be for transfer students to use the "My Graduation Plan" in Catalyst to see when they will be able to graduate. This tool has been extremely helpful for me.
