Kathy Qualls, Senior Vice Provost for Academic Finance and Administrative Affairs, is responsible for the oversight of all financial activities for Clifton Campus Colleges, College of Nursing, Allied Health and Pharmacies as well as the Graduate School, and UC’s two regional campuses in Blue Ash and Clermont. She provides financial council to the Provost and establishes financial policies and procedures. Qualls provides direct supervision of Office of the Provost business staff, and has dotted line authority over college and unit business administrators. As a member of the Provost’s senior leadership team, she represents the Office of the Provost on various university committees, including Budget, Fiscal Coordinating, the Risk Management Council, Strategic Enrollment Management, Capital Advisory, UC Health (Medical Coverage) Strategy. In addition, Qualls chairs the Performance Based Budget Development Committee, which links budget allocation to performance. She provides leadership for a number of special initiatives including UC Women Lead, a faculty and staff professional development program designed to support women’s career advancement.
Prior to her current role, Qualls served as the Executive Director and Chief Administrative Officer for the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Cincinnati for eight years. Before joining UC, Qualls worked at Miami University and Northern Kentucky University. She received her MBA from Miami and her BS in Accounting from Northern Kentucky University.
Qualls is former President of the Central Association of College and Universities Business Officers (CACUBO), and has just concluded her three-year term as a board member of the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO).
