Esports

Esports, otherwise known as electronic sports, is the term for competitive gaming. Esports has a global fandom, with millions of gamers and competitors - producing billions in support of professional players and teams. The University of Cincinnati supports the growth and pursuit of esports through community events such as the UC Esports Club and competitions.

The university cultivates the interest in gaming through the academic integration of courses and game design tracks. UC develops some of the country’s most creative, innovative, and talented students pursuing STEM-related fields of study. Many students have a comprehensive knowledge and profound appetite for esports. Newcomers to gaming are enthusiastically welcomed to the Esports Innovation Lab to meet new people, learn the sport, and compete at all levels. The University of Cincinnati Esports Innovation Lab is the home for gamers of all kinds and is part of the Cincinnati Innovation District located at the 1819 Innovation Hub.

Community

If you are a gamer or interested in being a gamer – find your crew here! The esports community at UC is one of the most active in the country. Join the UC Esports Club through Student Life to compete and experience a place of belonging alongside groups that share your passion for gaming. The UC Esports Club participates in the most competitive leagues in collegiate esports. The Esports Innovation Lab also hosts a variety of engaging events that compete from high school level to collegiate tournaments, as well as camps to continue developing education and logical and analytical advantages for the UC community. 
 

Competition

The UC Esports Club participates in the most competitive leagues in collegiate esports. The University of Cincinnati is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE), as well as the Electronic Gaming Federation (EGF), and the National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC).

 

Academics

Bring your passion for esports to the classroom. UC provides programs and classes to students interested in combining elements of esports and gaming into their education and experience. UC offers an accredited Game Design program as well as a GAMES certificate. In addition, multiple departments offer esports integration into the curriculum from broadcasting to sports management, information technology and computer science, and more.
