Why study Health and Wellness Management?

The Master of Science in Health and Wellness Management program at the University of Cincinnati provides graduates with the skills and knowledge needed to advance in various health wellness careers upon graduation. The program offers a robust core along with a wide range of interdisciplinary elective options, designed to allow each student to select classes that meet their personal and professional goals in health promotion and wellness career opportunities.

Our online health and wellness master’s degree focuses on integrating leadership and innovation concepts, health and wellness research, and coaching skills to prepare students for a role in directing wellness programs, coaching in an individual or group setting, and more. This degree will prepare students to pursue the Certified Wellness Practitioner (CWP) credential through the National Wellness Institute (NWI).

Admitted students can complete the program in one year if the student is enrolled full-time. Part-time options are also available.

Admission Requirements

Admission Criteria:

  1. Earned bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university in Exercise Science, Public Health, Health Science, or related field, or show evidence of undergraduate coursework in areas such as health promotion/disease prevention, wellness, or anatomy and physiology. Applicants with relevant work experience or nationally-accredited health/fitness certifications are also encouraged to apply, and should list this information in their CV/Resume.

  2. 3.0 undergraduate GPA or foreign equivalent.

  3. Proof of English proficiency if English is not the applicant’s native language.

In addition to these minimum requirements, applicants will need to submit:

  1. Application
    • Application for Admission: Choose “Online, Master in Science Health and Wellness Management” on the application
  2. Letters of Recommendation
    • Two letters of recommendation. At least one should be a professional contact, and the other can be academic. Please note that the name and email address of each recommender is required.
  3. Goal Statement
    • Please prepare a statement-of-purpose essay explaining in less than 500 words how the MS Health and Wellness Management program will further your career goals.
  4. Resume
    • Current resume or CV
  5. Transcripts
    • Unofficial school transcripts are required for the application, including University of Cincinnati transcripts.

  6. International Student Requirements
    • An official TOEFL/IELTS is required for all international applicants. International applicants must also submit foreign transcripts for evaluation to an agency recognized by the National Association of the Credential Evaluating Services (NACES: www.naces.org).

Graduates of this program will be prepared for the careers listed below. All opportunities may not be listed.

In order to graduate from the UC College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services, a student must:

  • Complete all required course work and program requirements.
  • Obtain at least a 3.0 university grade point average.
  • Be in good academic standing; that is, not on academic or disciplinary probation or suspension.
  • Meet the college's residency requirement of 30 semester credit hours.
  • File formal application for the degree by the posted semester of graduation deadline.
