Why study Business Administration Information Systems?

The Master of Science in Business Administration-Information Systems (MS-IS) is geared toward part-time and full-time students who wish to start or further a career in Information Systems. The MS-IS program presents an innovative leading-edge curriculum that is designed to give students the skills necessary to succeed in a challenging career. With daytime, evening, and weekend classes available, the program attracts students from diverse backgrounds who share a common passion for technology.

Graduates of the MS-IS program are working at major corporations around the world such as Convergys, Deloitte, EY, Cummins, General Electric, HSBC, SAP, KPMG, PwC, Accenture, Proctor & Gamble, Unilever, University of Cincinnati, Great American Insurance, and US Bank. Graduates of the program are performing exceptionally well in their careers and are proving to be valuable assets to their organizations.

A significant and unique feature of the program is that it requires an experiential component for both full-time and part-time students. The experiential component gives students the opportunity to work with faculty in applying their classroom education to critical projects in their co-op or full-time positions.

Resume

Ensure your resume clearly lists the dates of any professional (ex: full-time role, internships, co-ops), volunteer, non-profit, or any other leadership experiences. There is no formatting requirement, however, please review your resume for any grammatical mistakes and it should not be longer than 2 pages.

Transcript

You must have a US bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, or for international students the equivalent of a US bachelor's degree, by the time of application. You may submit an unofficial copy of all of your undergraduate and graduate transcripts (and degree documents if applicable) with your application; official transcripts will be required if you're admitted and enroll. If you are an international applicant, you may be required to submit a NACES approved course by course evaluationon your transcript during the application process. Please contact the LCB Graduate Programs Office to see if this is a requirement for your program.

Letters of Recommendation

Please select two recommenders who will be able to discuss your professional performance, academic performance, and/or work style. THis must be from one academic reference and one professional recommender. Letters of recommendation must come directly from the listed recommender on your application. IMPORTANT: Your application will not move forward in the review process until we receive both letters of recommendation.

Standardized Tests

Test scores provide a measure of your capabilities for the admissions committee to consider in reviewing your application holistically. The admissions committee requires the GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) or GRE (Graduate Record Examination) test scores. Test scores must be sent officially from the testing agency.

 Application Fee

Applicants are required to compete the $65 ($70 for international applicants) fee payment in order to complete their application.

Interview

Qualified applicants are required to complete a virtual interview via the Kira Talent Platform. The interview is in the format of multiple mini interviews (MMI). If selected, apoplicants will receive a separate email invite. Interview offers are typically sent 2-3 weeks after the application is completed. 

 

Note that full time and international applicants are only admitted for the Fall term.

Historically, our program has 100% placement within 3 months of graduation. There is typically a 70% conversion rate of the co-op/internship placement to full-time employment.

The degree of Master of Science in Information Systems is granted to those who satisfactorily complete the required course work, carrying a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher. The degree must be completed within five years of acceptance into the program. All students must contract for graduation and be enrolled for at least one credit hour of study each academic year.

Students can transfer up to 12 semester hours of graduate credit from an AACSB accredited university. The courses must have been taken within the past five years, with a grade of B or higher. Courses must be approved by the academic director.

English Proficiency

If your native language is not English, you must demonstrate your proficiency in English. This includes submitting an IELTS, TOEFL, or Duolingo test score. Please click the link below to see the minimum score to be eligible for the program.

We strongly recommend that applicants have a minimum of 2 years of full-time work experience.
