Why study Molecular Gen, Biochemistry, Microbiology?

The Department of Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry and Microbiology offers both a thesis and a non-thesis Master of Science degree that can be tailored to suit the student’s particular interests. The master’s program offers diverse opportunities in learning and research, thereby providing the fundamental knowledge base required for successful entry into technical and scientific positions at an advanced level. Students who have completed the M.S. degree have also pursued addtional biomedical science-related degree programs in professional or graduate schools.

Admission Requirements

  • GREs are not required, but highly recommended. We will waive the GRE requirement for applicants who demonstrate a strong record in relevant STEM courses such as organic chemistry, biochemistry, physical chemistry, molecular genetics, etc and have attained an overall GPA of >3.5.
  • Official college transcripts only if offered admission. Unofficial transcripts are used for admissions review.
  • 3 letters of reference
  • Curriculum Vitae or Resume
  • Personal statement 
  • TOEFL or IELTS scores for non-native English speakers
    • Minimum Scores: TOEFL 100 or IELTS 7
