What do you love most about working at UC?

The students, staff, and faculty! I have worked with many colleagues for 15, 20, 25 years. It is a place where people tend to stay. And I feel as if we are truly a family. I have also enjoyed my time getting to know other colleagues from across the University through my involvement on search committees, Staff Senate, Commencement, and many other opportunities.

Higher Education has changed a lot in my 25 years. UC has done a remarkable job in keeping up with some of the social justice issues that our society faces today. I am thankful that I work for an employer that recognizes the need to address these issues and values input from the UC community.

What advice would you give people that are thinking about working at UC?

Take the chance! You will not find a better environment to learn, grow, and flourish! There is much to be gained personally and professionally. Seek out opportunities to get involved! Grow your network. Take on a leadership role in a professional organization or activity.

Take the chance! You will not find a better environment to learn, grow, and flourish!

Take us through your career path. How did you get to where you are now?

My UC Story began with a Graduate Assistantship in what was called Student Organizations & Activities (now Center for Student Involvement) between 1993-1995. Although I loved my graduate program, I really enjoyed working at UC. When graduation rolled around, I started looking for jobs in both fields and was fortunate enough to get hired by the UC Alumni Association in the spring of 1996.

I enjoyed meeting and working with alumni and alumni chapters across the country. We reported directly to the President's Office at that time and our team was small but mighty! However, I missed working directly with students. A Program Coordinator of Student Life position at UC Clermont opened in September 1998. I held that position for five years and was tapped to create UC Clermont's first Disability Services Office (now called Accessibility Resources) in September 2003.

For nine years, I worked as the Director of Disability Services before I was asked to serve as Interim Assistant Dean of Enrollment & Student Services at UC Clermont. After 27 months as an Interim, I was hired as the Senior Director of Student Affairs & Services at UC Clermont in February 2015. Five years later, my position was elevated to Assistant Dean - Student Affairs & Services.
