Insurance & Claims

Property

What is covered?

Certain loss or damages to real and university personal property may be covered by the University's insurance program.  Please contact us regarding any potential claim or loss.

What is not covered?

While the University recognizes its responsibility to provide an environment that is as safe and secure as possible for students, faculty, staff and patrons, it cannot accept responsibility for loss of personal property and has no obligation to provide insurance for such property.  Personal property would include, but is not limited to, personal vehicles, wallets, purses, artwork, decorations, cell phones, computer tablets, books, periodicals and other materials whether or not they are used in conjunction with an individual’s employment or school responsibilities at the University.  Any personal property brought onto the University or into the workplace is done so at the individual’s own risk.

Auto Liability & Physical Damage

What is covered?

The University maintains liability and collision automobile insurance coverage on all University provided vehicles as required by state law.

What is not covered?

The University does not provide collision or comprehensive coverage for privately-owned vehicles.  When using a privately-owned vehicle for University business purposes, the driver is solely responsible for ensuring that the motor vehicle’s insurance coverage provides for insurance when using the vehicle for business purposes.  In case of an accident, the driver is responsible for liability insurance or any deductible.
