Job Overview

Under general supervision from the Director, the Assistant Director serves as a designated central point of contact for family engagement, inquiries, and case management for their student-related issues, including providing timely and accurate responses, referrals, and follow-up. This role works regularly with staff from key campus partners (e.g. academic colleges and departments, academic advising, admissions, housing, fraternity and sorority life, and student life staff) to ensure proper support for students and response to incoming concerns and family member needs.This role develops communication plans (including critical updates and seasonal content that anticipates needs) to serve families across multiple channels (e.g. social media, web, e-newsletters); and plans and implements key parent and family events and programming, including UC Family Weekend, Bearcats Bound Orientation, Move-In, Welcome Week, etc.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with development, implementation and administration of goals to achieve strategic objectives; assume management responsibility for a wide range of projects/tasks associated with primary business operations and/or corporate relations that have significant impact within the business function. 
  • Develop internal policies, procedures, controls, and manage processes to increase internal business and/or external corporate partnerships and advance service levels; responsible for policy execution and results that enrich the department/center, the campus and the university; consults with Director on major policy changes affecting other departments. 
  • May be responsible for coordinating a function or program(s) with significant impact on external relations.
  • May be responsible for collaborating efforts with administrative and academic units (i.e.,  Public Relations, Academic Colleges, Foundation, etc.) to enhance business/community partnerships. 
  • Assist  with preparation of annual unit operating budget recommendations; develop, implement and monitor assigned budgets; limited signature authority for purchases and payroll.
  • Prepare reports, disseminate/interpret information, provide advice, write proposals, deliver presentations, construct contractual agreements, and ensure that all  programs and services comply with university, state and federal regulations.
  • Communicate and assist students, parents, corporate partners resolve questions and complex issues; represent the university internally and externally.
  • Assist with administrative leadership and supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff; hire, orient, train, mentor and evaluate assigned staff; monitor and  coordinate staff development and training programs.
  • Serve on various university, division and departmental committees and may represent the department at various state and national associations; may function for the Director or Associate Director in his/her absence, as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with five(5) years experience; -OR-Associate's degree with seven (7) years experience; -OR-nine (9) years experience. Degree must be in a related field; experience must be related.
  • Experience also requires at least three (3) years supervision.

Additional Qualifications Considered

Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, College Student Personnel, Counseling, or related field.

Job Description

Our office is seeking students to serve as Parent & Family Ambassadors (PFAs). These students will work varying part-time hours during the Fall semester to support our office’s efforts in partnering with families. Additional optional hours will be available during the school year on a case-by-case basis to assist with other projects and events.

Under general supervision of professional staff, PFAs will provide a full range of tasks to assist Parent & Family Programs, including:

Welcome Week & Move-In

  • Assisting in the setup and execution of our events during Welcome Week and Move-In.
  • Attending our Welcome Week and Move-In events to represent our office.
  • Staffing Family Weekend registration tables and activity stations.
  • Providing guidance to families to help them understand how to make the most of their experience at UC.
  • Mingling with families and answering questions.

Family Weekend

  • Assisting in the planning and development of Family Weekend events.
  • Support marketing and promotional efforts to encourage registration.
  • Assisting in the setup and execution of Family Weekend events.
  • Attending Family Weekend events to represent our office.
  • Staffing the check-in and registration table.
  • Providing guidance to families to help them understand the schedule of events and how to make the most of their experience at UC.
  • Mingling with families and answering questions.

Other Duties

  • Providing a welcoming and friendly environment for all UC families.
  • Performing clerical tasks to support Parent & Family Programs.
  • Lifting and carrying of objects under 25 lbs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be an active, degree-seeking student in good academic and judicial/disciplinary standing who is returning for the upcoming 2022-2023 academic year.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.9.
  • Must be available to attend all dates listed below, including training, Welcome Brunch, and Family Weekend.
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm for UC and being a Bearcat!

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of UC programs and resources and/or a willingness to learn.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Reliable, flexible, and trustworthy.
  • Computer, mobile, and tablet skills.

Benefits & Compensation
