Pre-Law Advising

The Pre-Professional Advising Center helps you prepare for law school through a vigorous advising process that includes various workshops and one-on-one appointments.

How to Work with the PPAC

  1. Attend a Pre-Law Introduction Workshop for new pre-professional students (see info below). This is required before you can schedule a one-on-one appointment or attend additional workshops.
  2. Schedule your first one-on-one advising appointment.
  3. Continue to meet with your PPAC advisor at least once a semester and attend additional workshops (see below) to learn about the different components of your application

This informal, interactive three-part series expands on information in the Law Application and Personal Statement Workshop and will give you time to work through the writing process for law school applications.

All sessions will be held on Microsoft Teams. Attend one, two, or all three sessions, and be prepared to collaborate, write, and share your ideas with others!

Part One: Brainstorm Productively

September 2, 4-5 PM

In this session, we will dissect writing prompts for a deeper understanding of purpose, and we will complete a series of brainstorming exercises designed to help you put your ideas on paper. You will work with other participants to generate writing ideas and share your thoughts with the group.

Part Two: Draft a Compelling Narrative

September 9, 4-5 PM

In this session, we will discuss some common dos and don’ts for effective narrative writing. You will have time to write a portion of your personal narrative draft and receive friendly feedback and encouragement from fellow participants.

Part Three: Revise and Edit with Confidence

September 16, 4-5 PM

In this session, bring your personal statement draft for revision and editing advice. Be prepared to read your writing aloud to others and to offer constructive suggestions for improvement.
