Purpose Statement

The UC Women’s Center is committed to the personal, political, professional, and intellectual growth of women students at the University of Cincinnati by facilitating action, promoting intersectional justice, and fostering connections for all students. We strive to challenge gender inequities and advance the rights of all women through elevating student activism and leadership, bridging feminist theory and praxis, building mentorship and community networks, cultivating collaborative relationships with campus and community partners, and amplifying student voices.

The University of Cincinnati Women’s Center is one of the oldest continually operating university women’s centers in the United States. Established in 1978 as Women's Programs and Services, the office first served as a referral center for female students connecting students and staff to resources and events that were off-campus. Over the years, the Center's staff, and the programs they offered, grew to offer new resources for students.

Today we continue to offer an array of programs and services that promote intersectional feminism, social justice, and student leadership. We are centrally located on UC's Clifton Campus in the Steger Student Life Center where we provide a comfortable, informal space for students to meet, talk, and study. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff can answer questions and locate resources that address personal, academic, or work-related concerns. Students can learn about gender equity and build leadership and activism skills through our wide variety of student-centered programs. At the end of the year the Women’s Center celebrates women’s accomplishments and leadership on campus at our annual awards ceremony.

The past year has seen some great programming that engaged a variety of students. Check out our year in review for the last academic year to learn more about the UC Women's Center and ways you can get involved.
