Call for Undergraduate Presentations

Registration for undergraduate student presenters (both UC students and external students) is now open through March 31 at 11:59PM or until spots are filled. Space is limited and on a first come basis! Please register to present as soon as you have the appropriate information.  

Student registrations will be processed and approved in the order they are received until presentation spots are filled. External students must register for the symposium via the external registration prior to registering their presentation.

Dress code for all presentations is business casual.

Your registration must be complete in order for you to have a secured spot. Students may present individually or in groups up to 3 members. Please submit only 1 registration per presentation group.

In order to complete this form, you will need the following:

  1. Permission to present your research project from your project advisor, faculty mentor, or principal investigator. 
  2. The email, full name, institution, and professional title including appropriate abbreviations for your project advisor, faculty mentor, or principal investigator. 
  3. The email, full name, institution, and professional title including appropriate abbreviations for co-authors of your project. 
  4. Names, email addresses, phone numbers, majors, and program affiliations for all co-presenters in your group. 
  5. Choice of Presentation: Powerpoint or Poster 
  6. Project title and abstract written for multidisciplinary audiences (max. 250 words)

Abstract Instructions

  • Abstracts should be no longer than 250 words and should provide a proofread synopsis of the research conducted or proposed. 
  • Abstracts can use futuristic language for projects that are not yet completed. Ex: The results of this project will impact...
  • The abstract should include the name of all co-authors including the faculty member overseeing the research. By submiting an abstract to this symposium, you are recognizing that you have co-author permission to present this research at the symposium.
  • Title, Institution, and Field of Study should also be included. 

Poster Presentations

Poster Presentations will take place in 90-minute morning and afternoon sessions on April 23 and April 24 in TUC Great Hall.  

  • April 23 - Morning Session (10am-11:30am)
  • April 23 - Afternoon Session (2pm-3:30pm)
  • April 24 - Morning Session (10am-11:30am)
  • April 23 - Afternoon Session (1:30pm-3pm)

Using slide software, students will create a poster (minimum size 24” x 36”, maximum 36" x 48"), have it printed, and bring the printed poster to their assigned poster session and board during the poster setup time. Landscape or portrait orientation is acceptable. 

Poster assignments will be provided prior to the symposium. 

Signage with assignments and poster pins will be provided the day of the presentations.

  • Talk with your department and faculty project advisor. 
  • Talk with your program or Honors advisor. 
  • UC Arts and Sciences students' posters will be printed free of charge through UC Printing. You will receive instructions in your presentation approval email with the deadline. 

Oral Presentations

Oral presentations will take place concurrently April 24 and April 25 in 4 hour-long blocks. April 24 oral presentations will take place in the TUC 400 level breakout rooms. April 25 oral presentations will take place in the breakrooms of the Graduate by Hilton Cincinnati.  

  • Oral Presentation Block #1 - April 24, 12:30p-1:30pm
  • Oral Presentation Block #2 - April 24, 3pm-4pm
  • Oral Presentation Block #3 - April 25, 9:30a-10:30a
  • Oral Presentation Block #4 - April 25, 2p-3p

Students create an eight-minute presentation using slide software and/or other visual aids at their discretion. After presenting, students become part of a panel that fields questions from the audience. 

Students are expected to be able to access the presentation virtually (through drive software) and physically (through a thumb drive/ USB). 

Virtual Presentations

The very limited option to present virtually is exclusively reserved for UC students who are either 1) actively on a Spring 2026 co-op, 2) exclusively distance learning/ UC Online students, 3) have an internship or student teaching that will keep them from being physically available to attend the symposium. 

All virtual presentations will take place synchronously on April 22 from 11am-1pm via Zoom. 

Students create an up to 5-minute presentation with a virtual poster (1-slide PowerPoint). After presenting, students become part of a 5-minute panel that fields questions from the audience. 

Students are expected to present with their cameras on in business casual attire with the ability to share their screen. 

1-Slide Competition

The UC Undergraduate Research Society is hosting a 1-Slide Competitiion on April 23 from 6pm-8pm on UC's campus for any registered symposium presenter. 

Prizes will be awarded to competition winners! 

You will be able to indicate your interest for the competition via your presentation registeration form. 

Space is limited! You will receive further updates from the student organization in February.
