Becoming a Staff Senator is a great way to get involved with the university community and to have an impact on your workplace. The Senate provides many opportunities to learn about how the University works and to network with administrators and staff members outside of your unit.
The Staff Senate is holding information sessions on various campuses, and small group sessions at specific departments. View our Events page - it will be updated frequently. If you want Staff Senate to present to your group, please email us.
The next term will begin July 1, 2019. The senate will have 40 open seats (one representative per 100 eligible staff in each area*). To run for senate, nominees must have prior approval from their direct manager/supervisor.
The Senate will accept nominations for new senators at all campus, colleges and departments on March 15. The deadline for making nominations is April 5.
Elections will be held with online balloting and made available between May 6 - May 17.
A detailed description of the Staff Senate and senator responsibilities can be found in the Bylaws.
