Events
Taft supports a wide range of academic and public events each year.
In addition to the allocated lecture funds we provide each member unit, Taft offers competitive funding to host lectures, conferences, and community partnered events.
Academic
We provide competitive and allocated funding for faculty and Taft units to host significant lectures and conferences, both on campus and off-site.
Competitive Lectures
Faculty can apply for awards of up to $10,000 to host lectures of broad interest to the campus community.
Department Lectures
Each Taft unit receives $3,000 per year to host invited lectures on topics of interest to its constituents. Taft also provides up to $180 in lecture support per event, for the purposes of a dinner or reception in honor of the guest (up to six events).
Conferences
Faculty can apply for awards of up to $10,000 to host an academic conference that is timely, interesting, and of scholarly importance to a discipline or a set of disciplines.
Public
We collaborate with internal and external partners to host public events of broad interest to humanities scholars from across and between disciplines, including exhibitions, performances, and lectures. While often part of our annual thematic programming, these events also include non-thematic partnerships.
Taft&
Taft works with community and non-member unit campus partners to co-host events both on and off-campus. Interested Collaborators should contact to the Center Director to discuss potential partnerships and are encouraged to do so early in the planning process.
Thematic Lectures
Each year we issue a call for co-sponsored lectures related to our annual theme. We provide speaker honoraria, travel, and lodging, as well as logistical and promotional support.
Multimodal Workshops
Each year we issue a call for co-sponsored multimodal workshops related to our annual theme. We provide workshop leader honoraria, travel, and lodging, materials and supplies, as well as logistical and promotional support.
