This project focuses on the ways digital media change the affective dynamics of the public sphere. The first analyzes Just Stop Oil’s “soup throwing” protests as a gesture of exasperation that criticizes the contemporary media ecology. The second contends that modes of fascism are encouraged by the negative affects intensified by that same media ecology.
