Countering Accountability: Informal Obligations, Transparency Ambiguity, and Kickback Practices in UN-NGO Partnerships
This project examines how accountability is negotiated in UN–NGO partnerships when formal transparency systems collide with informal obligations, organizational survival pressures, and unequal power relations. It investigates how practitioners navigate these competing demands through trust, selective transparency, and informal practices, revealing how accountability is communicatively negotiated within complex international development partnerships.
