Informational Nudges and Prescription Pain-Reliever Misuse
A lab experiment with 610 University of Cincinnati undergraduates tested whether informational nudges shift attitudes toward prescription pain-reliever misuse. Positively framed messages paired with minimal engagement strengthened both risk perception and disapproval of regular misuse; negative framing raised only disapproval. Effects varied by gender and behavioral traits but vanished for occasional and habitual misuse.
