Hazing is intolerable and presents a serious risk to the health and safety of students. University of Cincinnati prohibits hazing as set forth in this anti-hazing policy and the laws of the state of Ohio. The anti-hazing policy applies to all members of the university community, including faculty, staff, students, organizations, alumni, volunteers, as well as visitors and other licensees and invitees, and applies to conduct that occurs on or off campus, between two or more people who are affiliated with the university or any student or other organization associated with the university.  

The student code of conduct exists to establish a safe, respectful, and orderly educational environment, defining rights and responsibilities to protect the institution’s mission. It promotes accountability, fosters personal development and civic responsibility, and sets procedures for addressing behavior that violates community standards, such as academic dishonesty.

This policy explains how the University works to keep the campus community safe. In rare cases, if a student poses a serious safety risk and cannot remain on campus - even with accommodations - the University may require the student to withdraw. The policy outlines how those decisions and procedures are handled.

This policy allows undergraduate students to take a Medical Leave of Absence (MLOA) when serious health conditions make it hard to continue their studies for an extended period. An MLOA gives students time to focus on treatment and recovery while stepping away from academic responsibilities. Graduate students should follow the guidance in their college or program handbooks.

The CARE Team responds to concerns about student behavior by gathering information and coordinating support. This policy explains how the CARE Team assesses situations and connects students to care and resources to promote their safety and the well‑being of the campus community.

This policy establishes a missing student notification policy for students who reside in on-campus housing. “On-campus housing” includes any residential facility for students that is located on the University’s campus or located off-campus but leased by the University to provide residential housing for its students, even if the building is owned or maintained by another party.

This policy highlights the University’s commitment to suicide prevention by connecting students to mental health and support resources. All new students receive information about depression, suicide prevention, counseling services, and other campus and student‑led supports available to those who may be at risk or affected.

This policy explains how the University responds to serious student‑related incidents with care, clarity, and consistency, while ensuring students receive appropriate support. It outlines response procedures, information sharing, and key contacts, and how we work in alignment with university emergency plans and law enforcement processes.
