Student Support Services is a federally-funded (U.S. Department of Education) program (part of the TRIO family of programs) that supports low-income, first-generation, and students registered with Accessibility Resources to achieve their higher education dreams. Our programs:

Provide opportunities for academic development
Assist students with basic college requirements
Motivate students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education

Our Goal

To increase the college retention and graduation rates of its participants and facilitate the process of transition from one level of higher education to the next.

Who can participate?

Any American citizen or permanent resident student is eligible to participate if enrolled or accepted for enrollment at the University of Cincinnati in any baccalaureate degree program and meets at least ONE of the following conditions:

First-generation college students (neither parent has completed a bachelor’s degree program)
Family taxable income does not exceed federal level determined by the U.S. Department of Education
Student with verifiable, documented physical and mental challenges

Grant Aid Application

Grant Aid provides financial aid assistance available to eligible SSS participants. Award amounts are based on need and determined by fund availability.

Grant Aid provides financial aid assistance available to eligible TRIO SSS participants. Award amounts are based on need and determined by fund availability.

You may apply for grant aid if you are Federal Pell Grant eligible and are an enrolled and in good standing second semester freshman, sophomore, junior or senior TRIO SSS student. Students having under 45 credits will be given priority grant aid awards.

An application may be submitted once you have completed each of these mandatory TRIO SSS program components:

Attend all required TRIO SSS advising contacts in the previous semester (3 contacts minimum)
Attend at least one Financial Literacy Session (Workshop or Online) in the previous semester
Attend the Financial Aid Workshop in the previous semester
Visit to the Learning Commons at least once in the previous semester
