Faculty Information

In order to ensure an adequate number of proctors for your exam, Testing Services requires that all exams be scheduled 14 days in advance. TimeTap is the online scheduling platform. Please follow the provided Faculty Scheduling Instructions. You can also access additional information on Setting Up Canvas for Proctoring your exam.

Spring Semester 2024 has limited availability. Please recho out to uctesting@ucmail.uc.edu to inquire about Online Proctoring availability. For students in other countries or who need specific time accommodations, alternative arrangements can be made directly with UC Testing Services.

There are two options for you to deploy your exams:

1. You can require that all students take their exam on the same day at the same time. For instance, all students must take their exam on Tuesday from 1-2:30pm. Note that students will need to log into their test 30 minutes prior to the start.
2. You can also open the exam for a block of time and specify the amount of time students have to take their exam. For example, you may choose to make your exam available from Thursday to Saturday with a 1-hour time limit for completion. Students will then be able to schedule to take their exam within this time frame.

Please note that accommodated testing will not be affected. If a student has an accommodation, they will have a separate testing experience to ensure accommodations are met and their privacy is maintained.

IMPORTANT: Within 2 business days, you will receive a personalized link for your course from Testing Services to share with your students for all of your exams. This link can be shared in Canvas or via email to direct students to your specific exam(s). This link is unique to your course, it will contain all your exams for the semester.

If you have any questions or unique circumstances for which you need to make Testing Services aware, please make sure to utilize the “Materials Allowed” box on the TimeTap submission form.

Also, let UC Testing Services know the "Password" for your exams. Canvas tests that are not password-protected will be accessible to students without being connected to a proctor. Additional information on how to password-protect a Canvas exam can be found in the Canvas Password Set Up page.  

Once your exam is scheduled, students will need to sign up for it in TimeTap using your personalized link. Exam day preparation information can be found in Student Information. Students can also find Instructions for how to schedule an exam.You can share both links with students as they are resources additional to the brief syllabus blurb below.

While this statement can be modified as needed, the parts highlighted in yellow are particularly significant and will likely not apply to every course.

This semester, we’ll be using online exam proctoring through UC’s Testing Services. This process will utilize Zoom and have live proctors. In addition to this proctoring, I WILL/WILL NOT be using only the browser guard in Honorlock as part of your exam. You will be required to register for the exam at least 24 hours ahead of the scheduled date(s)/time(s), but there is no cost to you to do so. Make-up exams will be handled on a case-by-case basis. I will provide the registration link and additional information on what you can expect as we get closer to the first exam.
