Sean Walulik

Sean Walulik is a first-year graduate student in the Medical Scientist Training Program and has recently begun his Ph.D. work in the Cancer and Cell Biology program at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Before joining the MSTP, he earned a Bachelor of Science from Xavier University.

Sean is currently a research graduate assistant for Andrew Volk at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, where he studies epigenetics and chromatin assembly of drug resistance and oncogenesis in acute myeloid leukemia. His research interest is epigenetic drug development for cancer therapy, and his clinical interest is pediatric oncology. Following his research and clinical training he hopes to gain an academic position as a pediatric oncologist in which he can run a translational research program aimed at bringing new therapies into the clinic for children with cancer.

Outside of the lab, Sean serves as a tutor and mentor for undergraduate students and is passionate about teaching and guiding these students through their academic journey and navigating medical school applications.
