Putting Hoffman Values into Practice
From backstage at CCM to the finish line of Cincinnati's ALS Walk, Hoffman Honors Scholars lead in excellence and vision. These students put Hugh Hoffman's legacy into practice in the classroom and community alike.
HHS by the numbers
The HHS program will support 48 students in AY 2026-27, 10 of whom will be incoming first-years.
Additionally, 7 returning HHS students will serve as HHS Ambassadors, supporting the program's community and values.
In AY 2025-26, 10 Hoffman scholars studied abroad, traveling to 8 different countries.
In Spring 2027, the HHS program will launch its inaugural study tour, "Vienna as City of Music in the Long Nineteenth Century." This HHS-exclusive study abroad course will examine the compositions, writings, and other activities of Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Mahler, Schoenberg, and dozens of other world-class musicians who called Vienna home between c. 1780 and 1913. The course concludes with a week-long tour of Salzburg and Vienna.
A legacy of impact
In AY 2025-26, HHS students completed 546 group service hours and 1,079 individual service hours.
They served 17 community partners, including the Cincinnati Museum Center, the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, ALS of Ohio, and Cincinnati Animal CARE.
Through these experiences, I developed a stronger understanding of leadership as both influence and responsibility. I learned that effective leadership is not just about holding a position, but about taking initiative, creating structure and consistently following through.

A legacy of innovation
In AY 2025-26, HHS students engaged in 280 hours of group leadership experiences, and attended a total of 34 leadership opportunities.
They also spent a total of 44 hours engaged in digital literacy workshops or learning, including a “Future of AI” workshop with Ali Minai, PhD, UC professor of electrical engineering and computer science.
