Keep Your Zoom Account Up to Date

Zoom frequently adds new features and security improvements, but the software update doesn’t update automatically.

We recommend current students, faculty, and staff who use their own devices (e.g. a personally owned desktop, laptop, tablet, smartphone) regularly download and update Zoom software to take advantage of the latest security and functionality features.

Zoom Update Required by November 3

Zoom will be implementing its new Software Lifecycle Policy on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022.

This means that current students, faculty, and staff who are running an end-of-life version after November 3, will not be able to join meetings via the Zoom Client and will be prompted to update, or join from the Web browser.

Follow the instructions below to update your UC Zoom account. 

  • Check for updates within the Zoom client.
  • Or, download and update the latest version at
