Programs

Through its programs, the GSG provides opportunities for graduate students that promote academic excellence, enhance the student community and also provide leadership and service opportunities to all graduate students.

Some of our signature events are described below. Apart from these the GSG organizes Professional development workshops in collaboration with the various organizations on campus, social events such as the Thanksgiving Dinner, Trivia Night, Soccer Tournament and many more enjoyable events that bring the graduate student community closer.

Signature Programs

Introduced in 2019, the Grad Student Orientation and Welcome serves to welcome all incoming graduate students to the University of Cincinnati and help them get familiarized with various resources that UC has to offer. Since Spring 2023, the Graduate Student Government has collaborated with the Graduate College to advertise university resources to incoming students. Grad Cafe

A social mixer event where Graduate students have the opportunity to socialize with their fellow graduate students over a cup of coffee. 

Highly requested, Grad Cafe is back after a 2-year hiatus due to COVID-19!

Dean & Dine

Dean & Dine is a intimate dinning experience. that aims to promote and strenghten the relationship between the graduate student body, GSG, and teh Graduate School. A selected group of students have dinner with Dean Ward, the Dean of the Graduate School, and can engage in conversation and share thoughts on a variety of topics over dinner.  

Halloween Party

One of the most popular events organized by GSG, the Halloween Party serves to provide a cheerful event for Graduate students to socialize and enjoy Halloween festivities. Graduate Students are encouraged to dress up in costume. 

The GSG hosts its annual traditional Thanksgiving Dinner during Thanksgiving week, bringing together graduate students across UC. Graduate students share their Thanksgiving traditions and socialize with other students, staff and faculty. 

Started in 2022, the Interdisciplinary Academic Conference allows graduate students from a variety of different departments to come together and present their research in an innovative forum. Held in TUC, students could be a part of a poster presetnation, do a traditional speech accomonied by a PowerPoint, or simply attend and support their fellow graduate students. Lunch will be provided. 

The GSG Spring Ball was introduced in 2018 to celebrate graduate students’ achievements throughout the academic year and promote the values of diversity and inclusiveness. A formal black-tie event, with a different theme every year, the Spring Ball features musical entertainment, speakers, a three-course meal and the presentation of the GSG Excellence awards.
