Our Mission
The University of Cincinnati Learning Commons is dedicated to enhancing students' academic experiences through peer relationships in three key areas:
- Deepening comprehension of academic content in general education courses,
- Fostering executive functioning skills, and
- Cultivating a sense of belonging
We emphasize the power of peer education, recognizing the profound impact near-peers have on positive behavioral change. Our goal is to foster academic growth and confidence, empowering students to develop the skills needed for independent success in their courses and ultimately achieve graduation from UC.
In collaboration with faculty and staff, we supplement and enhance classroom learning by providing academic support tailored to students’ unique college experiences. Through these partnerships, we develop resources and programs that reinforce course concepts and promote student success.
As a key component of our mission, we also prioritize the professional and personal development of our student staff. Through comprehensive training and professional mentoring relationships, we prepare them to become leaders who embody the values of education, growth, and leadership. By supporting our student staff in this way, we ensure they gain the skills and experience necessary to lead both within UC Learning Commons and beyond.
