Commuter Student Services

UC's Commuter Student Lounge is located in Steger Student Life Center on the 6th Floor. The lounge includes various resources, including comfortable seating, television, tables, accessible charging outlets, games, whiteboard, sink, microwaves, and a printer. The lounge is open from 8 am-6 pm, Monday-Friday. 

Directions: Enter Steger Student Life Center across from Center Court dining center. Take the elevator or stairs to the 6th floor. Turn right and go down the hallway past the bathrooms approximately 50 feet to arrive at the Commuter Student Lounge.

Off-Campus & Commuter Student Engagement Monthly Email Newsletter
Join the monthly Off-Campus & Commuter Student Engagement Newsletter to get general and helpful announcements, hear about upcoming events and opportunities to get connected, and to learn about student support resources and services available specifically to off-campus and commuting students. 

Microwaves & a refridgerator are available in the Commuter Student Lounge. There are two mircowaves located on the counter near the sink. The refrigerator is located in the corner. You are welcome to these as long as the building is open (Monday-Friday, 8 am-6 pm). To utilize the refridgerator, we ask you to follow the steps below. 

1. Label Your Items

• Before placing food or drinks in the fridge, complete a refrigerator tag.
• Refrigerator tags are available in the baskets on the fridge. Please complete a tag each time you place an item in the refrigerator. Write your:
  • First and Last Name
  • Date Stored
• Attach the tag securely to your item.

2. Keep It Clean

• Store items in sealed containers.
• Clean up any spills immediately.
• Do not leave open food containers in the fridge.

3. Take Responsibility for Your Items

• Remove your food when it is no longer needed.
• Check expiration dates and dispose of spoiled items.

Lockers are available in the Commuter Student Lounge by requesting a locker for each semester. Locker access begins on the first day of classes and is available to you until the last day of final exams. You are assigned a locker and a lock with a set combination code. You are welcome to use your locker as long as the building is open (Monday-Friday, 8 am-6 pm) and can put any items you would like, except we kindly ask that you do not put anything perishable. Click here to review more about the Commuter Student Lounge Locker Policy.
