Tuesday's & Thursday's | Community Clean-Up's
Time: 2 pm-6 pm
Location: Center for Community Engagement, 2728 Short Vine Street, Cincinnati, OH, 45219
What to Expect: Twice a week, we encourage students to be engaged with the communities surrounding Uptown West Campus by helping pick up trash and keep our sidewalks clean. This is a great way to get to know the neighborhoods around campus, enjoy a walk, and help maintain a clean environment! You must be registered to participate. Click here to learn more.
Wednesday's | Commuter Student Lounge Coffee Cart
Time: 9 am-4 pm
Location: Commuter Student Lounge, Steger Student Life Center 645, Mainstreet, University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH, 45221
What to Expect: Staff from the Off-Campus & Commuter Student Engagement team are present to chat, answer questions, and offer you a cup of coffee or tea. The Commuter Student Lounge is a designated space for students who are commuting to campus. Whether you are hanging out with friends, working independently on homework, or coming to relax and re-heat your lunch, commuter students are welcome here any time. What to Expect: Student leaders from the Off-Campus & Commuter Student Engagement team invite you to bring your lunch every Wednesday to the Commuter Student Lounge and join them to play games, chat, and get to know one another. The Commuter Student Lounge is a designated space for students who are commuting to campus. Whether you are hanging out with friends, working independently on homework, or coming to relax and re-heat your lunch, commuter students are welcome here any time. Wednesday, January 14 | Commuter Student Winter Resource Fair
Time: Wednesday, January 14 at 11 am-2 pm
Location: Commuter Student Lounge, Steger Student Life Center 645
What to Expect: We understand that the winter is an especially difficult time to be a commuting student, and we want to help support your experience with free gear* (gloves, hand warmers, car scrapers, and travel coffee mugs). And we want to help you build community with other commuter students! We will have bagels, coffee, and games! Stop by briefly or join us to hang out, grab some free items*, and get to know other commuting students.
*Available while supplies last – be among the first 100 students to get your free items!

What to Expect: Join us to learn more about budgeting, searching, and leasing an off-campus apartment in the Uptown area. We believe that all Bearcats should be equipped with information about their rights and responsibilities as a tenant, so join us to learn more.
Saturday, January 31 | Cats in the City: Ice Skating @ Fountain Square (RSVP Required!)
Time: 5 pm-7 pm
Location: Metro Stop on University Avenue & Jefferson Avenue; Take bus to Downtown Cincinnati
What to Expect: Meet us at the Ice Rink at Fountain Square downtown. We will have a free warming tent, skate rental, and drinks for everyone who attends. RSVP required – only the first 65 attendees may participate. We love Cincinnati, and we love helping connect students to resources throughout our city! One of our favorite partners is the Cincinnati Metro. Did you know you can ride for free?! Let us help you get your bus pass, get on/off the bus, and learn more about public transit in Cincinnati by joining us for a unique “Cats in the City” experience, similar to a field trip but a free way to explore your city alongside other Bearcats!

What to Expect: The CUF Neighborhood is located south and west of Uptown West campus. The vibrant involvement of the neighborhood councils and associations is part of what makes life in Cincinnati unique! We believe that Bearcats should be involved in the places they live, not just as students, but as citizens of their neighborhood. We encourage students to get to know their neighbors by hosting neighborhood clean-ups, in which we work with local, long-term residents and students to come alongside one another and clean-up their neighborhood. Volunteer hours are available. Please join us to help clean-up the CUF Neighborhood and get to know your neighborhoods!
Monday, February 9 | Off-Campus Housing Fair

What to Expect: Join us to learn more about available property leases in the Uptown area and resources that help you navigate your role and experience as a tenant. We will have over 20 property managers and owners in addition to campus and community resources to help support your experience as a tenant and renter in Uptown.
Friday, February 13 | Commuter Student Valentine's Day Build Your Own Bouquet
Time: 12 pm-3 pm

What to Expect: Happy Valentine's Day! Valentine's Day is a day to celebrate those you love, care for, and feel supported by, including yourself! We understand that there is a lot of work in being a student, especially a student who commutes to and from campus. We want to celebrate, encourage, and support you by providing you with materials to build your own Flower Bouquet. Stop by the Commuter Student Lounge, grab a flower sleeve and some individual stems to build your bouquet! In addition, we will have some resources and information specific to our Commuter Student Services and other resources that we offer to help you take care of yourself!
Saturday, February 21 | Neighborhood Clean-Up: Corryville Neighborhood

What to Expect: Bellevue Park is located near Uptown West campus. The parks around the University of Cincinnati are such a unique and fun feature of living in this part of the city. We believe that Bearcats should not just be students, but citizens of the city of Cincinnati and we want to encourage students to be aware of the aspects of the city that are available to them, including the beautiful parks near campus. We encourage students to join us to walk around the parks, pick up trash, and find ways to explore these beautiful nature areas near campus. Volunteer hours are available. Please join us to help clean-up Bellevue Park!

We believe that your community as a Bearcat should not only be centered around your experience on campus, but we also want to help you get connected by coming to you. What to Expect: Meet us at the Cincinnati Art Museum in downtown Cincinnati to learn more about the art and history present in our area and around the world. RSVP required - only the first 40 attendees will be able to participate. Transportation provided - meet at the Center for Community Engagement (address above). What to Expect: Join us for "Picnic in the Park" at Winton Woods! Our off-campus meet-up's are designed to bring Bearcat community to your neighborhood! We believe that your community as a Bearcat should not only be centered around your experience on campus, but we also want to help you get connected by coming to you. Picnic in the Park is an event where you can come and hang out at a park in the Cincinnati area. We welcome you to do whatever is helpful for you - catch up with friends, play games, get to know other commuter students, or bring your own blanket to sit and relax. Dogs are welcome as long as they are leashed and friendly to other dogs and humans! We provide yard games and table top games, as well as pizza for the first 100 attendees,s o be sure to arrive right at the beginning of the event!

Wednesday, April 8 | Commuter Student Event: DIY Potted Plants

What to Expect: We are in the final weeks of the semester and we want to celebrate all the ways you have GROWN! You have had challenges, celebrations, and so many things in between. We recognize that being a commuter student has many benefits and many barriers, and we want to help you see the ways that you have faced all these aspects of your experience. Join us in the Commuter Student Lounge to plant a mini succulent in a pot and reflect on your growth as a commuter student. In addition, let us give you some resources and information on how you can continue to grow as a commuter student in the coming semesters. We are so proud of you and cannot wait to celebrate this semester and academic year together!

"Be A Good Neighbor Week" is a week of celebrating what it means to be a good neighbor and to have good neighbors. Rooted in our "Be A Good Neighbor" values, we work with a variety of other campus and community partners to host events throughout "Be A Good Neighbor Week" that highlight the partnerships we have as a University and as the city of Cincinnati. Whether you choose to attend a workshop, an event, or volunteer in your neighborhood, we hope you join us for a full and fun week of opportunities to Be A Good Neighbor!
Cats in the City:
These programs and events are a partnership with the Cincinnati Metro and are designed to be "field trips" to get to know places throughout the city of Cincinnati. We love Cincinnati, and we love helping connect students to resources throughout our city! Did you know that University of Cincinnati students can ride the Metro for free?! Let us help you get your bus pass, get on/off the bus, and learn more about public transit in Cincinnati by joining us for a unique “Cats in the City” experience, similar to a field trip but a free way to explore your city alongside other Bearcats!
Commuter Student Lounge Events & Programs:
The Commuter Student Lounge is located in Steger Student Life Center 645 on University of Cincinnati's Uptown West campus, located off of Mainstreet (across from Nippert Stadium and Center Court). We host events in this space to help commuter students get connected to one another, to our professional and peer-to-peer staffs, and to discover resources and opportunities across campus and the Cincinnati community.
Commuter students are welcome to utilize this space, which includes lockers, microwaves, comfortable seating for relaxing, tables and chairs for studying (individually and in groups), a TV, white boards, and so much more! We invite students to come and hang out in this space, relax between classes, and get to know other commuting students.

Off-Campus Housing Fair & Resource Workshops:
We want to equip Bearcats to know more information about off-campus housing through educational opportunities and resources. As you navigate your experience as a tenant, we want to help educated you about your responsibilities, rights, and resources to be a good neighbor and tenant, representing the University of Cincinnati well. Each semester, we host one (1) Off-Campus Housing Fair that includes around 40-50 tables of housing resources, campus resources, community resources, and a variety of property owners, managers, and other landlords. In addition, each semester we host two (2)- four (4) dates and times for an Off-Campus Housing Resources Workshop. Students will learn more about budgeting, searching, and leasing an off-campus apartment in the Uptown area.
Off-Campus Meet-Up's:
Our off-campus meet-up's are designed to bring Bearcat community to your neighborhood! We believe that your community as a Bearcat should not only be centered around your experience on campus, but we also want to help you get connected by coming to you. We have two different types of Off-Campus Meet-Up's:
- Picnic in the Park is an event where you can come and hang out at a park in the Cincinnati area. We welcome you to do whatever is helpful for you - catch up with friends, play games, get to know other commuter students, or bring your own blanket to sit and relax. Dogs are welcome as long as they are leashed and friendly to other dogs and humans! We provide yard games and table top games, as well as pizza for the first 100 attendees,s o be sure to arrive right at the beginning of the event!
