Monday's | Commuter Student Lounge Games & Grub - Bring Your Own Lunch
Time: 11 am-1 pm
Location: Commuter Student Lounge, Steger Student Life Center 645, Mainstreet, University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH, 45221
What to Expect: Student leaders from the Off-Campus & Commuter Student Engagement team invite you to bring your lunch every Monday to the Commuter Student Lounge and join them to play games, chat, and get to know one another. The Commuter Student Lounge is a designated space for students who are commuting to campus. Whether you are hanging out with friends, working independently on homework, or coming to relax and re-heat your lunch, commuter students are welcome here any time.
Tuesday's & Thursday's | Community Clean-Up's
Time: 2 pm-6 pm
Location: Center for Community Engagement, 2728 Short Vine Street, Cincinnati, OH, 45219
What to Expect: Twice a week, we encourage students to be engaged with the communities surrounding Uptown West Campus by helping pick up trash and keep our sidewalks clean. This is a great way to get to know the neighborhoods around campus, enjoy a walk, and help maintain a clean environment! You must be registered to participate. Click here to learn more.
Wednesday's | Commuter Student Lounge Student Support & Crafting Service Project
Time: 10 am-2 pm
Location: Commuter Student Lounge, Steger Student Life Center 645, Mainstreet, University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH, 45221
What to Expect: Staff from the Off-Campus & Commuter Student Engagement team are present to chat, answer questions, and provide support. In addition, we will provide an opportunity for students to engage with a crafting service project. The projects vary each week, but include making cards, tie blankets, bookmarks, and other activities. You must be registered to participate in the crafting service project. Click here to learn more.

Thursday, August 20 | Commuter Student Meet & Greet
Time: 3 pm-5:30 pm
Location: Commuter Student Lounge, Steger Student Life Center 645
What to Expect: Join us for an opportunity to meet other first-year and transfer commuting students! We want to help all of our traveling Bearcats be successful and connected members of the UC community. Stop by for some fun get-to-know-you games, some brief information on how to be a success commuting student at UC, and ask questions to students who have commuted for a few years. This is a come-and-go event, but the presentation will occur at 4:30 pm. We will provide pizza, games, and lots of resources!
Wednesday, August 26 | Commuter Student Lounge Open House & Resource Fair
Time: 11 am-2 pm
Location: Commuter Student Lounge, Steger Student Life Center 645
What to Expect: Join us to get to know the resources available in the Commuter Student Lounge and from various campus offices and departments. We want the Commuter Student Lounge to feel like "home away from home" and want you to know what's available and how to access resources. In addition, we have invited a variety of campus offices and departments to come and provide their resources, including UCPD, Parking Services, Student Wellness Center, and other campus resources.
Saturday, August 29 | Neighborhood Clean-Up: Mt. Auburn Neighborhood
Time: 1 pm-3 pm
Location: Mt. Auburn Neighborhood; Exact Meet-Up Location TBD
What to Expect: The Mt. Auburn Neighborhood is located south of Uptown West campus. The vibrant involvement of the neighborhood councils and associations is part of what makes life in Cincinnati unique! We believe that Bearcats should be involved in the places they live, not just as students, but as citizens of their neighborhood. We encourage students to get to know their neighbors by hosting neighborhood clean-ups, in which we work with local, long-term residents and students to come alongside one another and clean-up their neighborhood. Volunteer hours are available and you must be registered to join. Please join us to help clean-up the Mt. Auburn Neighborhood and get to know your neighborhoods!

What to Expect: Join us for one of three "Off-Campus Living" Workshops. This workshop focuses on "Moving Off-Campus". Join us to learn more about budgeting, searching, and leasing an off-campus apartment in the Uptown area. We believe that all Bearcats should be equipped with information about their rights and responsibilities as a tenant, so join us to learn more.
Friday, September 4 | Cats in the City: Red's Game (RSVP is required!)
Time: 6 pm-10 pm
Location: Meet at the Metro Stop on Jefferson Avenue & University Avenue; Ride Metro Bus to Great American Ballpark
What to Expect: Meet us at the Metro Stop on Jefferson Avenue & University Avenue to take the bus downtown to a Red's Game! RSVP is required. Tickets are free to the first 40 students who sign-up to attend. We love Cincinnati, and we love helping connect students to resources throughout our city! One of our favorite partners is the Cincinnati Metro. Did you know you can ride for free?! Click here to learn more. Let us help you get your bus pass, get on/off the bus, and learn more about public transit in Cincinnati by joining us for a unique “Cats in the City” experience, similar to a field trip but a free way to explore your city alongside other Bearcats!
Wednesday, September 9 | Cereal Bar Social for Commuter Students

Location: Commuter Student Lounge, Steger Student Life Center 645
What to Expect: Join us for a quick bowl of cereal and to connect with other commuting students! Whether you stop by briefly for a bowl of cereal* or want to stay and hang out for a while, we would love to have you join us to get to know the Commuter Student Lounge and get to know some other commuting students.
*Gluten free and dairy free options will be provided.
Friday, September 11 | Community Engagement Expo
Time: 10 am-2 pm
Location: Block on Short Vine Street at UC's Center for Community Engagement, 2728 Short Vine Street, Cincinnati, OH, 45219
What to Expect: The Community Engagement Expo is an annual event hosted by the Center for Community Engagement. This event invites students to come and get to know various community organizations. Whether you're a commuting student who is looking for community-based support services, an off-campus student looking to get involved in your neighborhood, or a student who wants to receive volunteer hours, we invite you to attend to get to know some of our community organizations and partners!
Students that attend are eligible to receive up to one (1) volunteer hour for your attendance and are eligble to recieve up to one (1) additional volunteer hour for completing an activity at the Community Engagement Expo (read more under "Eligible for Volunteer Hours" below!). Wednesday, September 16 | Cats in the City: Coffee & Cram @ Cincy Cafe

What to Expect: Join us for "Coffee & Cram", an off-campus meet-up located at Cincy Cafe (located in Corryville off Short Vine). Our off-campus meet-up's are designed to bring Bearcat community to your neighborhood! We believe that your community as a Bearcat should not only be centered around your experience on campus, but we also want to help you get connected by coming to you. Coffee & Cram is an event where you can come and hang out in the coffee shop and do whatever you need to do - whether that's catch up with friends, get to know other commuter students, or take the space to study quietly on your own. We will provide free drinks for up to the first 100 attendees, so be sure to arrive right at the beginning of the event!

We encourage students to get to know their neighbors by hosting neighborhood clean-ups, in which we work with local, long-term residents and students to come alongside one another and clean-up their neighborhood. Thursday, September 24 | Cats in the City: Salsa on the Square (RSVP Required!)
Time: 5 pm-7 pm
Location: Meet at Metro Stop on Jefferson Avenue & University Avenue; Ride bus to Fountain Square
What to Expect: Join us to attend "Salsa in the Square", a weekly event hosted by 3CDC at Fountain Square! We will have a fun night of live music, food, and dancing. Come with us to see a fun aspect of our city. In addition, we are working with a student organization, Latinos en Accion! RSVP is required. We love Cincinnati, and we love helping connect students to resources throughout our city! One of our favorite partners is the Cincinnati Metro. Did you know you can ride for free?! Thursday, October 8 | Cats in the City: BLINK Parade & After Party

Location: Meet at the Metro Stop on Jefferson Avenue & University Avenue; Ride to Downtown
What to Expect: Join us for a fun evening attending one of Cincinnati's largest events, BLINK! The parade is on Thursday, October 8 and we will take the Metro to downtown. After the parade, join us for an event hosted by the Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce that is just for college students in the Cincinnati area. We love Cincinnati, and we love helping connect students to resources throughout our city! One of our favorite partners is the Cincinnati Metro. Did you know you can ride for free?! What to Expect: Join us for each semester for the Off-Campus Living Expo! This event features resources available on UC's Off-Campus Housing website, including property owners and management groups in the Uptown area offering resources for off-campus housing, community organizations providing support for students living off-campus, and City of Cincinnati resources for students as tenants in Uptown. Stop by to learn more about off-campus housing resources, see available properties and listings, and learn more about transitioning to live off-campus. This a partnership with UC's Parent & Family Programs and Family Weekend 2026.

What to Expect: We understand that the winter is an especially difficult time to be a commuting student, and we want to help support your experience with free gear* (gloves, hand warmers, car scrapers, blankets, and travel coffee mugs). And we want to help you build community with other commuter students! We will have bagels, coffee, and games! Stop by briefly or join us to hang out, grab some free items*, and get to know other commuting students.

Be A Good Neighbor Week
"Be A Good Neighbor Week" is a week of celebrating what it means to be a good neighbor and to have good neighbors. Rooted in our "Be A Good Neighbor" values, we work with a variety of other campus and community partners to host events throughout "Be A Good Neighbor Week" that highlight the partnerships we have as a University and as the city of Cincinnati. Whether you choose to attend a workshop, an event, or volunteer in your neighborhood, we hope you join us for a full and fun week of opportunities to Be A Good Neighbor!
