Community Engagement Expo 2026


Join us on Friday, September 11, 2026 at 10 am-2 pm for the annual Community Engagement Expo! This event takes place on Short Vine Street on the block between Daniels Street and W Charlton Street.

The Community Engagement Expo is an annual event hosted by the Center for Community Engagement. This event takes place every August or September and invites students to come and get to know various community organizations. Whether you're a commuting student who is looking for community-based support services, an off-campus student looking to get involved in your neighborhood, or a student who wants to receive volunteer hours, we invite you to attend to get to know some of our community organizations and partners!

We encourage UC students to get involved in your community! Whether you are volunteering or want to get to know community organization in Cincinnati or want to work in a non-profit as a long-term career, we invite all UC students to come and get to know some community based organizations.

Students that attend are eligible to receive up to one (1) volunteer hour for your attendance and are eligble to recieve up to one (1) additional volunteer hour for completing an activity at the Community Engagement Expo (read more under "Eligible for Volunteer Hours" below!). We invite faculty, staff, and other associates within the University of Cincinnati to attend and join us for our annual Community Engagement Expo! If you are a service-learning faculty, host community-based projects with students, or are connected to community service in a personal way, we would love for you to join.

If you believe that your department, academic course or project, or other initiative would benefit from hosting a table, please complete our table request form by clicking below. You will be notified by the beginning of August if your project or initiative is accepted to attend.

We invite community partners and organizations from across Cincinnati to attend and join us for the annual  Community Engagement Expo! If you have volunteer opportunities, resources and support services, or any other features that you believe would be impactful for UC students, we would love for you to join.

We have limited availability, so please complete the table request form below and you will be contacted by beginning of August if your organization is accepted to attend.

Walking Directions

  • From University Circle (near Marian Spencer) - Take University Avenue east (toward The 86); Keep walking past The 86 to Dominos; Turn right on Short Vine Street
  • From Daniels Circle (near Dabney Hall) - Take Daniels Street east (toward Daniels Hall); Keep walking past the intersection; Turn right on Short Vine Street
  • From the Baseball Stadium (near the Sheakley Athletic Complex) - Take Corry Blvd east (toward Kroger); Keep walking past the BP; Turn left on Short Vine Street

 

Driving Directions

  • Address: 2728 Short Vine Street, Cincinnati, OH, 45221
  • Directions: This event closes Short Vine Street on the block from Daniels Street to W Charlton Street. Please be mindful of this closure as you navigate directions. In addition, please note that we are operating under specific instructions for parking. Please see parking information below.

Student attendees are eligible for volunteer service hours! Each student will receive one volunteer hour for attending - we believe that you are serving your community by engaging with community organizations and other opportunities to get involved! In addition, you can receive an additional volunteer hour by interacting with ten (10) or more tables at the Community Engagement Expo. 

Here's how it works:

  1. Sign-Up to Attend - Register for the "Community Engagement Expo" by signing up to attend on UC's Volunteer Portal. 
  2. Check-In When You Arrive - When you arrive at the Community Engagement Expo, check-in with a student leader at one of our check-in tables. We will have two (2) check-in tables, one located at Daniels Street and Short Vine Street, and the other located at W Charlton Street and Short Vine Street.
  3. Complete Your Community Engagement Expo Passport - At check-in, you will receive a half sheet of paper with ten (10) different boxes and types of campus and community organizations. You must go throughout the Community Engagement Expo and interact with at least ten (10) different campus and community organizations, then ask them to initial one of the boxes. 
  4. Turn In Your Community Engagement Expo Passport - Once you have collected at least ten (10) initials at different tables, then you can come back to one of the Check-In tables, write your name, cell phone number, and UC email, and turn in your Community Engagement Expo Passport to receive an additional volunteer service hour. In addition, you are entered in to a raffle prize to be eligble to win a UC Swag Basket (see photo below).

The Community Engagement Expo will feature numerous opportunities for giveaways, including a raffle prize for checking-in to the event, various giveaway items from campus and community partners tabling, and food and non-alcoholic drinks from restaurants and vendors throughout the Short Vine Business District!

Are you interested in providing additional support for this event as an event collaborator? We are always looking for campus and community partners to lend support, from sharing supplies and resources, to assisting our planning team for day-of logistics. We have a list of items that we are looking for support in providing to attendees and organizations tabling. If you are interested in assisting with one of these items, please email community.engagement@uc.edu and let us know that you want to provide some event support. We will provide you with more information and ways to get involved!

 

We are looking for support in the following areas:

  • Entertainment – We will be providing some entertainment, including lawn games and local bands

  • Equipment (Tables & Chairs & etc.) – We will be providing all attending organizations a table and two chairs

  • Food, Snacks, Non-Alcoholic Beverages, Water - We will be providing all attendees with some form of snacks

The Short Vine Business District offers a variety of parking lots within blocks of this event. Please review the following locations and costs: 

Parking for campus and community partners will be provided. Please check your email for additional instructions that will be provided at the beginning of September, prior to the event.

Table Attendees Registration

Click here if you are interested in registering as a table at the Community Engagement Expo. We have limited spots, so you will be notified if you were selected for a spot by the middle of August. If selected, you will receive more information about logistics for this event. 

 

Suggested Packing List

What We Provide:

  • One 6-ft table
  • 2 folding chairs
  • Event space assignment (7-ft width total, including table)
  • Access to event staff, as needed
  • Trash and recycling receptacles
  • Hospitality space

What You Should Bring:

  • Event Supplies - Materials and information to display or distribute; Opportunities and ways for students to engage with your organization; Information for students to further learn about your organization
  • General Supplies - Pens & markers; Tape, binder clips, or clamps; Clipboard; Small portable wagon for transporting supplies
  • Weather  Supplies - Water bottles, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, jack or rain gear, pop-up tent (no larger than 10x10 ft), weights and other ways to secure your items, additional chairs (if needed)
  • Optional Supplies - Candy or snacks to distribute; Branded merchanise and giveaways; Photos or display boards highlighting your organization
