Bearcat,

I am writing today to share that University of Cincinnati has extended the Fall 2024 confirmation deadline from May 1, 2024 to June 1, 2024. This deadline extension is due to U.S. Department of Education processing delays that continue to impact Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) information being provided to colleges and universities across the country.

What does this mean for me?
All first-year students who have been admitted to UC's Uptown campus for the Fall 2024 term will now be able to confirm their admission to University of Cincinnati until June 1, 2024 at 5:00 pm EST. This extension is being provided so that students relying on financial aid awards can be certain they have this information prior to making a final college selection.

Are any other deadlines changing?
To accommodate a confirmation deadline extension, University of Cincinnati Housing will now accept housing applications until June 4, 2024 at 5:00 pm EST. A student must be confirmed in order to apply for housing.

What if I am ready to commit to Cincinnati?
If you are ready to commit to Cincinnati, you can confirm your admission by visiting admissions.uc.edu/confirm and paying the confirmation deposit. Once you confirm your admission, you can complete important next steps such as applying for housing, and registering for orientation.

When can I expect my financial aid award from UC?
Due to FAFSA processing delays, you will likely not receive your full financial aid offer from University of Cincinnati until after April 1, 2024. Please be assured that University of Cincinnati will start issuing full financial aid offers as soon as we are able.

What if I have not filled out my FAFSA?
If you have not yet filed your FAFSA application for 2024-2025, we strongly encourage you to apply at fafsa.gov. Both students and parents will need to create their own, separate log in credentials known as the Federal Student Aid ID. The University of Cincinnati FAFSA code is 003125.

Our team will continue to update you as we learn more information from the U.S. Department of Education regarding FAFSA updates. In the meantime, you can visit our Financial Aid website for the most up to date information.

Hello Bearcat,

We hope your winter break is off to a great start. Winter break is a great time to think about your housing plans for the 24-25 academic year. Because university housing availability for students after the first year is limited, we encourage you to consider all available options in the Uptown area. For help with your search, please visit our Housing Search page and consider attending Student Government’s Off-Campus Housing Fair on Jan. 10 in TUC.

If you are interested in staying in university housing again next year, please read this email carefully as it contains important information pertaining to the housing renewal process.

Housing Renewal Overview

The housing contract renewal process for the 2024-25 academic year is available to current university housing residents and will begin Jan. 29 at 12 p.m. (noon).

Spaces allocated for contract renewal are limited. There will be up to 1,500 spaces available to returning students (the same amount as the current year). Students seeking to renew will have options available primarily in our leased locations (apartment-style) and not all spaces will be available for assignment.

Next Steps

  • Jan. 29 – Feb. 5: Students interested in renewing their housing will sign into the housing portal and complete an Intent to Renew form. This form may be completed anytime between Jan. 29 and Feb. 5. Your timing of completion is not considered during selection. The Intent to Renew form is not a housing application and does not guarantee assignment.
  • Beginning Feb. 5: Students will be selected to complete a housing application for contract renewal from the pool of those who completed the Intent to Renew. Students will be placed into priority groups based on cohort and honors status. The most recent cohort groups and honors students will receive the highest priority. The order of students within each priority group will be determined in random order.
    • Any students not initially offered the opportunity to apply will be automatically placed on a waitlist. We are not able to guarantee assignments to students on the waitlist.
  • Feb. 9 – 16: Selected students can submit renewal applications in the housing portal.
    • *Remember: a contract is considered complete once the $150 non-refundable application fee is submitted, if applicable. Before entering the portal, have a credit card or other payment information available.

Room selection: Room selection is scheduled to occur the week of Feb. 19 - 23. Students will sign into the housing portal during their timeslots to select their rooms based on availability.

Additional Resources: For more detailed information about the renewal process, including in-depth descriptions of the process, priority groups, and FAQs, visit the Contract Renewal page.

Contact Us: If you have any further questions or require clarification, please feel free to contact us at 513-556-6461 or uchousing@uc.edu. Our team is here to assist you throughout this process.

Sincerely,
University Housing

University Housing

To Graduate Students

Based on Acceptance Date

Dear Bearcat,

Thank you for living in graduate housing this term. Our office is busy preparing for the upcoming leasing 2024-25 season. Determining which apartments will be vacated is a critical step in this process.

Please accept or decline renewal for your apartment by Monday, March 11 at 12 p.m. (noon), noting the following:

  • It is important to renew or decline your housing in the housing portal so we have an accurate picture of everyone’s plans. If no tenants in a unit renew their apartment, our office will offer the unit to prospective tenants.
  • Tenants must be current UC graduate students when the new lease cycle begins to be eligible to stay in graduate housing.
  • We will begin the sublease process a few weeks after a student receives an offer. To view the graduate housing application timeline in its entirety, please visit our Apply page.
  • As a reminder, leases end on July 31.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 513-556-6461uchousing@uc.edu, or use the virtual assistant chatbot via the housing website. Students may also live chat with an agent on our team during business hours.
