Summer Housing for UC Students

Students seeking to live in University Housing during the Summer 2024 term must be enrolled for the Spring 24, Summer 24, or Fall 24 semester.

Summer term housing is available May 5 - August 3 at 12:00 p.m. (noon).

Your success is our success. The university's position is that the support system provided by living in university housing enhances the academic efforts and social adjustment of new students-and provides important benefits to all returning students as well.

The 2024 summer semester application opens Tuesday, March 19 at 12 p.m. (noon).

Semester Transition

New Residents

New residents may begin move-in on May 5 or after.

Additional information will be sent via email, and posted to this section of the web page.

Transitioning Residents Procedure

  • Starting May 2 at 9 a.m., you may pick up keys to your summer assignment from the service center of your summer assignment. After picking up your keys, you will gain access to the building.
    • A limited number of rooms may be ready for move-in before this date. If this is the case for your room, you will receive separate communication to notify you.
  • Within 48 hours of picking up your key, you must be completely moved out of your spring assignment and into your summer assignment.
    • After removing all personal items from your spring assignment, proceed to the front desk to check-out and return your academic year assignment keys.
  • Students must complete all steps by Friday, May 3 at 12:00 p.m. (noon).
  • If you have questions regarding move-out procedures, please contact your RA or the service center of your 2023-24 academic year assigned room.

Students Staying in the Same Room

If you are assigned to the same room for the summer as you were for the 2023-24 academic year, you must stop by the front desk of your hall to get checked-in for the summer semester to ensure your card access. Summer access will be granted only once you have checked in.

Why Students Choose to Live in Summer Housing

  • You increase your odds for academic achievement. Studies have shown that students residing on campus do better academically and are more likely to graduate. Living in a residence hall makes it easier for you to access the library and to connect with study groups. No travel to and from an off-campus residence means you will be less likely to miss classes and you will have more time for study.
  • Meals are nutritious, convenient, and easy. The dining centers and retail food locations on campus provide a variety of healthy foods. Meal plan participation saves you the time of grocery shopping, cooking, and washing dishes.
  • Work and fun are easier. If you plan to work part-time, living in a residence hall makes scheduling time for a campus job easier.
