President Neville Pinto serves as the 30th president of the University of Cincinnati, where he leads the university’s strategic direction, Next Lives Here. Born in Mumbai, India, he was educated at the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, where he earned his bachelor’s in chemical engineering. He earned his MS and his PhD in chemical engineering at Penn State University. A university teacher, researcher and administrator with 40 years of experience in higher education, he taught and led at UC from 1985 to 2011, when he became Dean of the Speed School of Engineering at the University of Louisville. In 2015, he served as UofL’s Interim Provost, and a year later, he stepped in as acting President. Dr. Pinto returned to UC to become Cincinnati’s chief executive in 2017. Under his vision, UC is focusing on becoming a leader in innovation and impact with three main platforms — academic excellence, the innovation agenda and urban impact.
