Mark Your Calendar for Ceremony to Honor UC s Veterans

UC President Nancy L. Zimpher, the UC Army and Air Force ROTC and UC Student Government will host a special ceremony to honor faculty, staff and student veterans. The entire University of Cincinnati community – as well as veterans from across the Tristate and the general public – is invited to this special ceremony that will take place at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, on McMicken Commons. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the Atrium of Tangeman University Center (TUC).

President Zimpher will emcee the ceremony, which features a guest speaker, Brigadier General James M. Kowalski, who’s both a veteran and a UC alumnus. Brigadier General Kowalski earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from UC in 1979. Kowalski is commander of the 552nd Air Control Wing at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City.

The ceremony will also feature military marches presented by the UC Bearcat Band, a presentation of the colors by UC Army and Air Force ROTC cadets, and a rendition of Taps featuring buglers in the towers of TUC and McMicken Hall. A reception for the veterans will follow the ceremony in Room 310 of University Pavilion.

The university holiday in honor of Veterans Day is Friday, Nov. 10.
