Three UC College-Conservatory of Music alumni and one current student are semifinalists in the 2026 Metropolitan Opera Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition. One of the most prestigious singing competitions in the world, the Laffont Competition's national semifinals take place on Sunday, March 15, 2026.

Featuring alumni guest artists Rebecca Barnes, viola; and Jonathan Lee, cello; tickets for the "Midlife Crisis" concert are on sale now through the CCM Box Office. A new collaboration between the University of Cincinnati's Digital Performance Lab (DP Lab), CCM Acting, UC's School of Information Technology, and the Cincinnati Fire Museum is using gaming technology to bring essential fire safety education to children. The project titled Fire Escape is an interactive video game designed to teach K-12 students how to respond safely during a house fire. It was developed through Digital Futures research support, student game development, and guidance from local fire safety professionals.

The Niehoff Center for Film and Media Studies at the University of Cincinnati invites the campus and community to delve into the thought-provoking “2026 UC European Film Series: Perspectives on Our World.” Five recent films will be screened, with introductions and discussions led by UC faculty. Using a variety of genres and forms, these films encourage audiences to think about their place on the planet, in relation to civic engagement, to the natural world, to others, and even to space aliens in Moravia. “The series is a mix of realism, reality, comedy, and escapism that we hope will make you see things differently,” said Michael Gott, Neihoff Center director of programming and College of Arts and Sciences professor. “Film can make us rethink our ideas about the world and see things from different perspectives.” Past topics have ranged from artificial intelligence to migration, urban spaces, and women in film. Following each screening, discussions with filmmakers and UC faculty aim to spark meaningful conversations.

Emma Biros, an alum of UC's Special Education program, never wanted to be a teacher. Rather, she aimed to make the world a better place for people living with disabilities. She fell in love with transition work while working in CECH's IDD Education Center, which led her to a position with a local non-profit, Genesis at Work. Today, Biros is launching her Love, Emma line of adaptive clothing designed to make functional fashionable for young women with disabilities.

Now he returns to Cincinnati in a lead role in "Shucked," which runs at the Aronoff Center from Feb. 10-22.

Media Production students work on live broadcasts with UC Athletics in a new, state-of-the-art sports media broadcast control room at UC College-Conservatory of Music. CCM Media Production and UC Athletics are working collaboratively on the university's sporting events, producing video board displays and live, multi-camera sports broadcasts for the ESPN+ streaming service since Fall 2020 from the Nippert Stadium control room. Now, with the addition of the new CCM sports media broadcast control room, video teams can cover multiple events at the same time.
