The UC College-Conservatory of Music's Division of Music Education and the Ohio Collegiate Music Education Association present a free workshop with electric violinist Tracy Silverman beginning at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16. Silverman will work with CCM students throughout the day on Oct. 16, discussing his career and providing master classes. His residency will culminate with a strum bowing and improvisation workshop, which is open to teachers and college students from throughout the Tristate area.

CCM's Play Series opens with William Shakespeare's "The Winter's Tale", presented Oct. 3-5, 2024, in Patricia Corbett Theater. A jealous king, a betrayed queen, a lost daughter and a fairytale ending. "The Winter’s Tale" is one of Shakespeare’s great late romances, full of magic and hope. Tickets on sale now through the CCM Box Office!

In conjunction with the FotoFocus biennial celebration, a photography exhibit — Posteriors: Sitters’ Backs in 19th-Century Photographs — is now on display at the College of Design Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP). The exhibit runs through Nov. 2.

Each year, hundreds of applicants from around the world vie for a chance to compete in the prestigious Naumburg Competition. Current CCM freshman Miriam K. Smith, a student of CCM Professor Alan Rafferty, has qualified to compete among some of the best cellists from around the world in the 2024 International Cello Competition, which takes place October 15-20 in New York City. At just 17, Smith is the youngest of the 39 competitors.

CCM alumna Taylor Fleshman joined "The President's Own" United States Marine Band as the harpist in July 2023. A Staff Sergeant in the Marine Corps., Fleshman's role as the Marine Band's harpist includes being a featured soloist when the ensemble performs at the White House and in annual concert tours across the country.

Considered by many to be the most prestigious international opera competition, Operalia has helped launch the careers of some of the genre’s brightest stars. Each year, a select number of opera’s most promising young singers are invited from a pool of hundreds of applicants to participate. This year, three CCM alumni were among those selected to compete in Mumbai, India.

"The President's Own" United States Marine Band's "Coast to Coast" concert tour stops at CCM for a free performance at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4 in Corbett Auditorium. Admission is free, but ticket reservations are required.

The CCM Jazz Orchestra Concert is excited to welcome audiences to its season opening concert at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024, in the Corbett Auditorium. Under the direction of Scott Belck, the performance highlights the Swing Era of jazz music popularized by big band hits of Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, Harry James and many more.

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music has once again been named as one of Playbill’s “Big 10.” Ranked as one of the top star-producing institutions in the nation, CCM was represented by at least 24 alumni performing on Broadway stages during the 2023-24 season according to Playbill's coverage.
