Music for Food on Tuesday, Oct. 20
CCM faculty collaborate with other local musicians for an off-campus concert presented in support of the Freestore Food Bank at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20. Dubbed “Origin & Evolution,” the concert is part of Music for Food, a national musician-led initiative for local hunger relief, which presents concerts to raise resources and awareness in the fight against hunger. Presented at the Freestore Community Resource and Distribution Center (3401 Rosenthal Way, Cincinnati OH 45204), the performance features Cincinnati-based violinist Rannveig Marta Sarc with CCM faculty members Brian Hong (viola) and Benjamin Hughes (cello) in works for string duo and trio by Ludwig van Beethoven and Paul Wiancko. The evening also includes the Ariel Quartet performing Johannes Brahms' String Quartet No. 1. Admission to this Music for Food concert is free, with suggested donations of $40/adult and $15/student. Conservatory Series on Wednesday, Oct. 21
The spotlight returns to campus at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21, as CCM presents the inaugural concert of its new Conservatory Series on UC's campus in Robert J. Werner Recital Hall. This prestigious new performance initiative brings together distinguished CCM faculty artists and outstanding student performers for large-scale chamber music and interdisciplinary productions.
While future installments of this performance series will also incorporate distinguished guest artists, the debut performance will celebrate the collaborative artist that defines the CCM community by featuring the combined talents of eight CCM faculty members — Pavel Vinnitsky, clarinet; Christopher Sales, bassoon; Margaret Tung, horn; Danbi Um, violin; Brian Hong, viola; Benjamin Hughes, cello; Rachel Calin, double bass; Anna Vinnitsky, piano – performing Johannes Brahms's expansive Piano Quartet No. 2 and Franz Schubert's monumental Octet. Pavel and Anna Vinnitsky co-direct this new CCM concert series, which requires paid admission. Learn more about this concert and purchase tickets online.
