Dylan Mulvaney visits CCM, where she got 'the best degree in the world'
The Musical Theatre alumna visited campus for a Q & A session with students
Every single thing I’ve done since leaving this school still makes me think: Having a musical theatre degree is the best degree in the world.
Dylan Mulvaney (BFA Musical Theatre, ‘19)
UC College-Conservatory of Music alumna Dylan Mulvaney (BFA Musical Theatre, '19) visited campus to meet with current students on Friday, Oct. 2. During the 2.5 hour Q & A session, Dylan talked about her career, shared advice and answered questions from CCM's current Musical Theatre students.
The last time Mulvaney stepped foot on campus was 7 years ago, when she was still a student. Last week, she sat on stage in Patricia Corbett Theater with CCM Musical Theatre Chair Vincent DeGeorge to answer questions and talk about her professional journey. She spoke to students about making their own path and creating their own opportunities.
Shortly after she graduated in 2019, Mulvaney landed a role in the national tour of The Book of Mormon — but that tour was eventually closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While the world shut down during the pandemic, she worked with CCM to host a podcast that featured various college alumni called School, Stage and Screen. After coming out as transgender, Mulvaney acheived viral fame with her TikTok series "Days of Girlhood." Her fame came with new fans, as well as new adversaries, but Mulvaney's public persona stayed positive and optimistic as she shared her transition with the world.
A year later, Mulvaney made her New York Rainbow Room debut in Dylan Mulvaney’s Day 365 Live!, a cabaret-style variety show celebration that was lauded by industry giants such as Playbill and Variety. All proceeds from the event’s livestream tickets were donated to The Trevor Project. In 2023, Mulvaney was invited to the White House for NowThis News' Presidential Forum with Joe Biden, walked in her first show at New York fashion week and made her Grammys red carpet debut.
After achiveing viral recognition in her "Days of Girlhood" series, Mulvaney returned to New York stage in her off Broadway production, The Least Problematic Woman in the World, a one woman show about girlhood, fame and self-discovery. Then in 2026, she returned to Broadway as Anne Boleyn in Six. After ending her time with the Broadway musical, Mulvaney performed on stage at the 2026 Tony Awards. Now, Mulvaney is exploring a writing career with her memoir Paper Doll: Notes from a Late Bloomer.
From musical theatre to TikTok to the White House to writing novels, Mulvaney's career is expansive. We look forward to seeing what she does next.
