VIDEO AND SLIDESHOW: Highlights of the MainStreet Stride

Lucy, the baby bearcat, UC’s Bearcat mascot and the Hoxworth Blood Drop mascot were among the sights in the third-annual MainStreet Stride red-and-black foot parade through campus on May 16. The parade was filled with 1,097 people, including the Bearcat Band, UC Athletics and student and university offices showing off their UC spirit.

As the parade came to a conclusion with a picnic near the Russell C. Myers Alumni Center, UC President Nancy L. Zimpher led the crowd in cheering, “I Love Lucy,” as Cincinnati Zoo Executive Director Thane Maynard held up the four-month-old baby bearcat to her UC admirers.

President Zimpher added that the inauguration of UC’s Student Government leaders was a new, signature event for the MainStreet Stride, an occasion for the new officers to be inaugurated before a crowd of enthusiastic Bearcats. New Student Body President Ryan Rosensweig told the crowd that he and Student Body Vice President Sean Lee are excited about taking office and making a difference on campus.
